The Rockin' Vickers shared a house in Blackpool with an Irish band called the Wheels - big mates of Van Morrison's, who put out some great singles. Saw 'em somewhere in Ossy in '66 - they were a really exciting R&B band.

Continuing the 'recommended for you' theme:

The reason I picked up a guitar was to play this song. That, coupled with the misguided view that girls love guitars :D:o

Can't say I have heard of Wheels Wynonie, but could it be that they changed their name to Them, as Morrison played with Them and they had a hit with Gloria too, in the sixties:confused:

Don't think so jaysay, they were the "Gamblers" prior to them.:)

Nope, different band, Jaysay. Both from Belfast and both sounded very similar. The Wheels reckoned that Van the Man wrote "Gloria" for them (the Wheels, that is. ;) ).

YouTube - Carl Wayne - You`re A Star

I had the privilege of meeting this chap back in the seventies and had a long conversation with him when I was his minder when he appeared at the Cav. Carl was one of the nicest blokes I have ever met, sadly he died a couple of years ago, but he was a top bloke
