Best Christmas Record?

whats the best christmas record ever? whilst the best selling record of all time is Bing Crosby (White christmas) i dont think it holds a candle to Phil Spectors - Christmas Album, every track a gem.:)

Re: Best Christmas Record?

I like Mariah Carey's 'All I want for Christmas is you.'

and 'When a child is born.' I'm not sure who sang that.

Interesting choice never made me think of Christmas, although I prefer the version by Sarah McLachlan.

Re: Best Christmas Record?

I still like white christmas, but your information is wrong cashman, white christmas, having been the best selling single for decades, is now only the best selling christmas record of all time, the title of best selling record ever belongs to a certain Elton John for the candle in the wind - tribute to Diana.

I'm with the sad looking moggy............McGowen a & McCall's Fairytale of New York is a modern Classic.

But that said there are so many wonderful Christmas records that pre-date the 70s......

It's gotta be Greg Lake's I Believe in Father Christmas for me. Perhaps I'm a closet hippy or it may be because the beeb used the Prokofiev bit out of it as their Christams theme music for a couple of years when I was MUCH younger.

A Spaceman Came Travelling by Chris De Burgh was in my humble opinion the best one yet. Has anyone listened to "Real" radio on DAB radio they are playing a mixture of Christmas songs and other stuff during the day but at night, all night they are playing all Christmas stuff.
