Mike Smith RIP

Sad to hear about the loss of the Dave Clark 5's lead singer and organist, Mike Smith. For those of a certain age, their records will always evoke simpler, more innocent times and a vital component of those records was Mike's vocals. RIP Mike.

Was my favourite group from the sixties. Not long ago given the Greatest Hits LP away with the rest of my albums.

Great band love their stuff, their song bits & pieces were banned in most dance halls because of fears the floors would go with the then young uns stomping to the beat:D

I have a fair few of their songs cos of the infectious beat & one of the best bands of its era:D

Is it still Chelsea that mainly does the 'glad all over' theme at its ground ????

Great track that cashy, its surprising just how many good numbers like that they did, its a pity that we only think about some of these old group when one of them dies. RIP Mike Smith

I never realised he was paralysed some years ago. The Daily Telegraph has an obituary

Here's one that shows off Mike's vocals at their raunchy best...
