Re: Song lyrics - because I'm not in the mood for politics today!
While reading this thread I'm listening to The Eagles "Waiting in the Weeds" from "long Road out of Eden" and I'm very impressed. It's actually a Poker expression. Give it a try.

No More Walks in the Wood, How Long, Somebody, Busy Being Fabulous and Long Road Out of Eden are the highlights for me from that album wadey. Waiting in the Weeds is listenable, but in your heart of hearts you know it's far from what Eagles are capable of.

I love 'Hotel California' - whenever we've been in a seemingly inescapable situation we've said "It's like Hotel California here".
American Pie is another one of those "What's it all about?" songs although some of the lyrics are obvious. One of my absolute favourites is "McArthur Park" but what IS that one all about? Oh and my friend's daughter thought we were kidding when we mentioned the Pink Floyd classic "Several Species of Small Furry Animal Gathered Together in a Cave and Grooving with a Pict" :D |
Re: Song lyrics - because I'm not in the mood for politics today!
I don't understand the confusion over Hotel California's meaning. Don Henley has said in (easily) a dozen interviews that the song is written about the excesses brought about by the dark underbelly of the American dream. Don't get me wrong; having your own interpretation insofar as what the song reminds you of or connotes to you is a great thing about music, but the reasons and stories behind the song are pretty much set in stone.
