Favourite Cover Versions!
This cover version does the original, You really got me by The Kinks justice. Anyone got any other songs that were covered that they think are as good as or better than the original?
YouTube - Van Halen - You Really Got Me |
Re: Favourite Cover Versions!
Joe Cocker's version of With A Little Help From My Friends. Also, most Dylan covers are better than the originals!

Yeah, that's a classic. My fave Dylan cover is (a bit obscure) This Wheels On Fire by The Brian Auger Trinity. GnR's version of Live And Let Die is pretty good as well.

Love the Foo`s version of the Wings track and also agree with a couple of the others here, G`n`R`s Live And Let Die, Van Halen You Really Got Me......and mentioning Van Halen, you can add David Lee Roths version of Californian Girls and Just A Gigolo |

Must be one of the ultimate covers as most people think the Quo's version is the original. |

Re: Favourite Cover Versions!
John Fogerty of Creedence Clearwater Revival (think it was on one of his solo albums)....good, but not a patch on the Quo's!!

[quote=Wynonie Harris;929877]Big record on the Northern Soul scene, as was this which ties in with the title of this thread, as it's a cover of a 50's doowop record by the Del-Vikings."
I wonder if you know my cousin Glen Gunton (originally form Todmorden)- he's a really big Northern Soul fan and still teaches the dancing....lives further south these days... |

Have posted several of Italian group Planet Funk's songs recently -this is there latest offering which is airing a lot in Italy at the moment -don't know if it's hit the UK or not. It's not bad -don't know what Nancy Sinatra would think of it...
Would be better with Dan Black but he's not on vocals here -he also sings with a group called The Servant. These Boots Are Made for Walkin (digital videoclip) - YouTube |

And YouTube - Marillion - Everybody Hurts (live) R.E.M. cover Please give it a chance, just because it is Marillion it does not mean they are what you think they are. In fact they are quite the opposite. One of musics most underrated bands. A band that through the power of themselves has true creativity. |

Re: Favourite Cover Versions!
Thanks Stevie and Cashy, they should have changed their name when Steve Hogarth joined. As it is they are in a unique position, they release their own albums with no record company and the fans pay for the albums upfront. This allows them to remain creative.
Dare I say it, they are better than my beloved Pink Floyd. A truely great band, making music for music lovers. |
