I listen to music on Spotify quite a lot. Interestingly it was Andrew, who posts on Accy Web who first mentioned Spotify. I'd never heard about it before Andrew mentioned it. I think its really good.

Re: How do you listen to music?

Yep its Andrews fault we all use Spotify in the house, all 5 of us have free accounts, even 5 year old Emily has it on her PC.

I listen to the radio in the car.
Online radio (if that makes sense) using PC or my phone
Music on my phone.

Re: How do you listen to music?

I like total silence most of the time, but when I feel the need for music, I have 3days worth of it stored on my PC and listen via headphones.

Radio and CD's in the car, and Itunes or Radio repeats through BBC iPlayer when working.

Re: How do you listen to music?

Mainly Spotify now that I have a pc .

Used to be CDs mostly .

I don't listen enough . It's fulfilling and enriching .

Years ago I used to go up to the Shoulder of Mutton on a Wednesday evening . They had a pianist , Harold Sharpe . He used to play the organ at the Platts Club .
In his earlier years he had been a pianist on Transatlantic Liners .
His speciallity was jazz , but he was fantastic with any style of music .
It was a great mid-week night out .

Get a free user account while they are still doing them, you cant always get them.

Spotify - Download and Listen - Free Music - Millions of Songs

Re: How do you listen to music?

Me too - but I find the ads irritating (just had 'go Compare' :()
On the plus side - found a Scott Huckabay album I once bought from itunes and lost in a PC crash, and another of his that I haven't heard before :)

Re: How do you listen to music?

This maybe a coincidence -
I downloaded Spotify yesterday, and ignored the invitation to 'share' with my Facebook friends. Overnight my Facebook has been accessed from Southern California and I have had the 'rigmarole' of resetting a password for Facebook.

So it appears that what appears to be music for nothing DOES have its price - loss of privacy.

There's more ads than there use to be Margaret. But to say its free, its pretty good. How long it will remain free, who knows.

As a PS to that post of mine, my regular midday AVG virus scan moved a 'corrupted executable file' to the virus vault.
I have already UN-installed Spotify

I agree SJ, that's why I'm still happy to play stuff from my 60s and 70s collection

Depends what you mean by "new music", SJ...certainly, most of the music you hear on the radio and in the charts is gutless, soulless junk with computerised backings and sing-by-numbers vocalists. Still plenty of performers knocking out some good stuff in the old school style...Roomful of Blues, Eli Paperboy Reid & the True Loves (recommended to me by Al Gilmartin), Sharon Jones & the Dap Kings, the Mannish Boys, the Hollywood Blue Flames, Southside Johnny & the Asbury Dukes...and those are just from your side of the pond. Plus, not forgetting the Tower of Power...straight outta Oakland!

LOL no 'popular' music thats for sure

Some of My fave singer/songwriters lives/comes from where you are; Mark Eitzel, Paula Frazer, Mark Kozelek.... all their music is worth buying
