Remember watching the first ever show - Jimmy Saville presented it. "I Want To Hold Your Hand" was no.1 and "Glad All Over" was no.2.

Yes, those were the days. The whole family would watch TOTP together - I remember in the 80's trying to convince my dad that Boy George was actually a bloke! And everyone knew what was No.1 (I haven't known what the No.1 single is since about 1992!!)

Yeah, but you missed the best ones (from your musical point of view). Jethro Tull with Ian Anderson prancing up and down playing "The Witches' Promise", Atomic Rooster blasting out "The Devil's Answer", Jimi Hendrix doing "Purple Haze", Keith Emerson attacking his keyboard as the Nice powered through "America". Nowt much in my line but you would've loved it!

Love all that stuff now but missed it first time round....seen 'em on TOTP2 though!!

If I remember it used to be on at the very beginning on Thursday or Friday Night, I can remember when it was on the rest of the family disappeared into the kitchen, think they were more into Vera Lynn than the Beatles:D:D

always watched it much to my dads anoyance thursday night
then of we all went piled in to an old van and over to the starlight club
in little harwood..and thats an other story..:theband:
