Should the Beatles sons form a band!

News has come out today that the sons of Beatles members may form a band; Beatles 2

Anyone got an opinion on this?

Personally if it has anything at all to do with the Beatles other than them being the sons, then no! ;)

Hmmm Did lennon have a son?

It's a bit late for April Fool, isn't it??

What a ghastly thought, why can't we just be left with good memories.

Paul McCartney's son looks a real weirdo, but then I never did like his dad either.

Just because their fathers could sing, doesn't mean that they will be able to.

They have all worked in music before to some degree, Zak Starkey, Ringo's son, has drummed for Oasis and the Who!

I think they should maybe try something of their own see what happens, but maybe they won't have the magic!

Maybe if they get some of the Bee Gees sons in they could call it the Bee Beatles! :alright:

Na, even if they were brilliant (which they're not) they would always be compared to their fathers, no matter how you try you couldn't recreate the Beatles they were a one off at the right time

As Cashy says, there is Julian, with his first wife Cynthia, and then there is Sean, with Yoko Ono.

Re: Should the Beatles sons form a band!

They might have worked in music, but they will never be a patch on the Beatles....and why would they want to be compared to them anyway?

They are always going to be followed around by the reputation of their fathers, and compared to them. No....they shouldn't form a band.

It doesn't always work following in father's footsteps

theres already a tribute act by that name iv seen the posters advertising them so they need to have a re-think on the name.:)

wouldnt have thought they were in need of cashing in on their daddy's fame id of thought they were financially secure enough ?

Not much point when there are already so many perfectly good tribute bands around like this lot. Strange choice of name, though. ;)

Don't think the writer of this article thinks it's a very good idea, do you?

Seems Ringo's lad isn't so keen. Perhaps he will emulate his father another way by becoming the new narrator of Thomas The Tank Engine :)

The children of the Beatles are obviously very rich and privileged, I saw Paul's son on breakfast tv the other day, he looks to be getting on a bit and his music to me was dire. He said he had been inspired by the Cure, who I adore but given Paul's son's age I think should perhaps have inspired him to perform a bit before now, since they have been around for a few decades. Additionally his performance did the Cure no favours.
I do question why the middle aged son of an extremely successful multi millionaire musician who is an icon of the music industry should decide to now hit the music scene - perhaps it's a mid life crisis combined with a need to prove himself?
And no, the Beatles children should not try to re create the Beatles - they may resemble them physically but they certainly do not sound like them! Much better to be proud of your parents than try unsuccessfully to recreate their talent and live off their backs!

I've never heard Macca's son's music. But I can imagine it's a massive dissability/ burdern to be a musician, being the son of someone like that and want to play music.

It's like trying to play electric guitar and being the son of Jimi Hendrix if he was still alive!

Here he is singing in what looks like, a studio.
His voice is nowhere near strong enough to be a lead singer.

It was so weak I wasn't sure anyone was singing at all.

Sounds weak and he doesn't look convinced himself! Must be a great burden to be in the shadow of his old man!

Don't think the original Beatles should've formed a band. Worst think ever to happen to popular music, IMHO.

Couldn't agree more, there was I a mere 12 years old, trying to get to grips with a one stringed tea chest and a rattle made from old beer tops, just as I got the hang of skiffle, someone with more talent comes along and ruins it for me!

By the way, anyone remember the so called talent competitions held at the local Cinemas?
Mime along a go go.
What a pile of arse,
The Beatles had some talent, far better than many that followed in their webfooted indentations.

But far less than many whose music they imitated.

All the British bands emulated American Black music...as they are doing now! Psychedlic, Disco, House, Hip Hop all started in America.

I grew up with the Beatles and liked them, although I never cared much for their solo efforts, especially Paul McCartney's.

You were more of a Bay City Rollers fan weren't you Cashy!

Growing up in the 60's the Beatles songs are like picture books in that I remember them more than any other band from listening to them on the radio, so they were iconic! :)

I figured that - I was envisioning an old geezer in tarten trousers trying to get off with the school girls who fancied the Bay City Rollers - Alvin Stardust was quiet old wasn't he!
