That's right he wasn't a founder - I can't even fit his face with the band? He was in them from 71 - 74 - so I don't recall that period of the band.

Peter Green guitar
Jeremy Spencer guitar
Bob Brunning bass (temporary stand-in for John McVie who was working his notice in John Mayall's Bluesbreakers)
Mick Fleetwood drums

Ye, greeny definitely left in 1970. Don't know about the rest as I lost interest after they stopped being a blues band.

If Green left in 70 perhaps they had some time off for a year before this fella joined. :theband:

There was a documentary on BBC4 a few weeks ago about Fleetwood Mac from their inception to modern day, it was a great program to watch. I have a book somewhere which shows the make up of bands through the ages, up unto about 1995 that's very interesting too

As I'm younger than you I only recall "Albatross" then I forgot about the band till they came out with more pop stuff in 77. Yeh I saw the documentary it's been shown quite a few times very interesting the band went through many formats over the years. I prefer Peter Greens stuff really in retrospect and in the light of age. ;)

I went to see them in early 1970 with the original line up - I remember that Mick Fleetwood was on the drums swigging from a bottle of vodka throughout the concert - they were absolutely fantastic performers! I also went off them when they went all american and stopped being so bluesy.
I want Albatross as the first tune at my funeral.

I totally disagree - Albatross is probably one of the most relaxing rock tracks ever...:)

According to Wikipedia this was the b-side...

Several years ago I bought a Fleetwood Mac compilation album featuring the original line-up of the group. Sorry to say but it's one of the most boring albums it's ever been my misfortune to listen to. They were just a typical run-of-the-mill British blues band of the period. The Rumours line-up was far superior in my opinion.

Think I can agree with that too Michael the introduction of Stevie Nicks and Christine McVie made them more main stream which showed in the sales of the Rumours album

Thank you Cashman, yes the B side of Albatross is very good, looks like I'll have to add it to my ever increasing list of funeral songs - it's a pity I'll miss it!
