I've heard of Hank Ballard 'cos it was him who invented the 'Twist' and made Chubby Checker famous by writing all those hits for him, such as 'Lets twist again' and the like.

He also wrote lots of hits for other artists without much success as an artist himself.

I would go for anything between 1887 to present day, personal choice, technology gave it to us.

O.K. that's slightly more than 5 years, but, wow, the number of different pools we can dip into these days why be restrictive?

Mentioning the 'Dominoes' group, I find I didn't know that the great Jackie Wilson, of 'Reet Petite' fame, was their lead singer.

The Dominoes had some cracking vocalists in their group, including the legendary Clyde McPhatter, much admired by myself and Mr Cashman! :)
