Less what I said was in jest; a joke, a bit of banter - sorry you took it so seriously!:D

Amazing song. I tend to lean to the Trent Reznor version BUT-Cash wrote it.Both versions I love for different reasons.

Sorry, walkinman, I loved everything Johnny Cash did- until this song and his last LP.
A very sad, depressed and sick man came through. His health, the loss of his wife etc.
I know it's a reflection of how he was and felt at the time but I can't think it could ever be 'Your fav country and western song'.
Now 'Jackson'-yes please.

With you there, ChrisSJ, on the happy ones anyway.
We always managed with a travel rug.
But have you ever tried to make sense of the words to 'Island in the stream'?

It's true-I love depressing music though! Hurt is amazingly well written. Depends what you're looking for in listening material I suppose!
Jackson is lovely. Did he actually propose to her whilst they sang it?

I have. Tried that is. Before I knew the words I actually went through a short phase of thinking 'Just because we are married, don't mean we can't sleep around' were lyrics in 'Blanket on the Ground'.

Incredibly sophisticated song for the country market i'd try not to think about it too much G ;) these are some of them songs i'll listen to for the rest of my days but only when i'm on my own as some of my mates find them irritable...I tell them the old "they dont make em like this anymore" :D
