Stop posting stupid questions

Re: Metallica vs Iron Maiden

I am just asking for people's opinions. If your against that why did you comment on this thread in the first place?

Margaret Pilkington 11-05-2014 10:05

Re: Metallica vs Iron Maiden

Mick isn't against it, he is just being honest with you.
He likes people to start interesting debates...this isn't the way to do it.
You really need to say what you like, why you like it and then perhaps pose the question for others to post their views on what you have said.

I have done a thread about my favourite band Red Hot Chili Peppers.

I know....I have seen it.
How much interest has it attracted?
No posts other than yours the last time I looked.

Re: Metallica vs Iron Maiden

I was hoping it would get some interest though it has not. I was just hoping if someone on this forum was a big fan like me.

I like RHCP because every album is different every song very creative. They are loved around the world. None of their music is manufactured, they play real instruments and they don't mime. They are part of a rare breed of great bands that still makes good music because most of today's music is a load of crap.

Judging by the responses on here mate, I think the above opinion may just be a little too optimistic! :)

Sounds like you are describing lots of very very good artists there.

Re: Metallica vs Iron Maiden

They pretty much styled their music on the likes of Jimi Hendrix, Kiss and Led Zeppelin. These musicians still have a strong following today.
You might grow out of it.

accytom101 11-05-2014 13:37

Re: Metallica vs Iron Maiden

They have never been influenced by KISS, their type of rock is glam. RHCP's genre is funk rock/metal, alternative rock and rap rock. Their first guitarist Hillel Slovak was influenced by KISS, but the band was not.

Re: Metallica vs Iron Maiden

Well, you are entitled to your opinion.
To me it is all very male, intimidatory and shouty.
No melody, just bang bang noise.

Margaret Pilkington 11-05-2014 14:16

Re: Metallica vs Iron Maiden

If you listen carefully to the artists I have mentioned you will see(or hear perhaps is a better word) where your fave band got some of their musical background from.
Musicians are influenced by the music they have listened to in the past......and all music evolves.
When I was young(which is a long time ago) I listened to Jimmi Hendrix....and Kiss...not so much Led Zeppelin......but I can't say I really ever liked it that much. I listened to it because it was around. I still listen to all kinds of music...but I have to agree with one thing you said...much of the modern stuff is rubbish.

Re: Metallica vs Iron Maiden

Wait for it.......

.....UGH. and a great big collective one at that.

Maiden- They haven't put out a decent album since 1992 which is one year more than Metallica who's "best"(but not best) release was in 1991 and the previous to that 'and justice for all' was a crapfest with a couple of good songs, at that point they had not fully recovered from the tragic loss of Cliff Burton and well, never did.

Not really a valid battle if you can actually hear the melodies of the male, noisy, intimidatory and shouty fellas. I used to like them both, until the introduction to Nirvana that took over my teenage years... 20 years later. I no longer listen to either. But I still like to listen to Nirvana and sometimes Megadeth too. Megadeth was ALWAYS the better band over Metallica.

Personally I never liked them(RHCP) Actually- I think they are overrated. Also, when I was 15/16 Nirvana played pier 48 for the "MTV live and loud" series... In-between each couple of songs the adverts came on and these two (fake bearded) bearded idiots were chatting rubbish on a boat in the middle of a river and I found them to be quite irritating. VERY IRRITATING. I vowed to actively hate them forever. Oh to look back and sift through the wreckage of youth....

Those two guys turned out to be the singer and the bass player of RHCP. So my opinion of them being crap, is it biased? bleh, they do have a great bass player..... I have a bootleg of nirvana somewhere, where he plays a trumpet solo on smells like teen spirit.....

Please. Please. PLEASE. Before you decided to post a thread entitled "Who is better- Kirk Hammett or Marty Friedman" Don't! or I might start to actively hate you :P (as we all know Dave Mustaine is better than them both)

Re: Metallica vs Iron Maiden

To be honest Nirvana are slightly overrated, how long did the Grunge movement last 2 years. If Kurt did not die they still gonna split.

accytom101 16-05-2014 20:39

Re: Metallica vs Iron Maiden

RHCP are not overrated by any means they hung out and toured with Nirvana and Pearl Jam as I like to call them the big three. Chili Peppers love their fans and the fans love them. Every album is different than the other, they are also starting preparation on their new album excited....you bet.

Restless 16-05-2014 20:48

Re: Metallica vs Iron Maiden

They aren't overrated they are just crap.

Re: Metallica vs Iron Maiden

So your basically saying that Miley Cyrus, One Direction are better than RHCP. Yeah a great statement sayin Chili's are crap.....maybe you should have thought about you just said.

Margaret Pilkington 16-05-2014 21:11

Re: Metallica vs Iron Maiden

Where was it that Rob mentioned Miley Cyrus or One Direction?
I must have missed that somewhere along the way.
Those two acts are the kind of thing that 12 year old girls follow...not people of Robs reputation and standing.

We all know what we like, and it changes over the years.
I have listened to some of the music that you favour and it does nothing at all for me....so you can have my share of it.
