Been a long time since I have commented on this part of the forum, used to be Accytom101. I have resurrected and I hope I can share my musical tastes with other members of this forum. My tastes are now quite varied, genres I like include Heavy Metal, Funk Rock, Rap, Trip Hop etc.

When you are young(and Accytom18 is obviously young...not implying that you are old Rob...but you are old enough to see music for what it is)) you think that music is relevant...but in actual fact it is just a distraction to take your thoughts away from what is TRULY relevant.

Music is pleasant(well, some of it is), but it is just recreation, nothing more.

Music plays a huge influence to many people's lives in a huge way, I'd say it's more just recreational imo, music can even save lives....

I take your point.
We had a surgeon who would only work if he could have his music player on in theatre.
The sad thing was he liked Mahler...not music that sets my soul on fire.
Listening to that during ops was torture...I am just glad the patients(at that time) were soundly asleep.
The same ops these days are done under spinal so they would have to be given ear plugs...except that this surgeon is no longer on the earthly plane.

Some of what is termed music, isn't music...it is just noise.

I have very wide tastes in music....from Pink Floyd to Puccini...from the Beatles to Beethoven.
When the mechanics serviced my car they always said they were surprised at the music that was in my car...meaning it was to their taste and something they did not expect to find being listened to by a batty old bird.

When I had a colonoscopy they was listening to Blackburn VS Burnley (Burnley hospital) they even put the tube up as a goal was scored by Burnley and they all cheered(I WISH I WAS JOKING)

Strange but true. I was also promised gas and air but they said they would see how it was first(wasn't that painfu just like being bloated) I watched on a monitor - that's a movie I never want to see again
