Album of 2004
Prior to the marketing junket that is the Brit Awards it would be nice to see some real opinions and not the usual back-slapping malarkey....and your favourite album of last year was????
I'll kick off with The Scissor Sisters.{Strange mix of Elton John- like vocals over some seriously camp disco;it's wrong but it works!** |
Re: Album of 2004
"The Joy Of More Hogwash" by Martin Gordon. Former Radio Stars bass player makes excellent follow up to 2003`s "Baboon In The Basement" !!

Re: Album of 2004
Difficult this one but off the top of my head Morrissey - You Are the Quarry and one that's growing on me is Keane - Hopes and Fears but I could change my mind in 5 minutes and pick something else.

Re: Album of 2004
Aye the marketers are gr8 at presuming or putting tastes in ppls mouths, mind u with the likes of the Brit awards which is geared to the youth culture n who licks whos arse. To be honest i prefer the ones that have some lasting about them like the likes of Robbie, Kylie, U2 etc i mean is busted gonna last thro this yr ?!?!? probably not n do the we are diversing thing only to disappear

Re: Album of 2004
What is it about The Smiths/Morrissey that northerners like so much? I apologise for the generalisation here, but I haven't yet found anyone from the south that likes them, yet 'northerners' seem to love it!
I find them deeply depressing, both the music and the lyrics. Album of 2004? That would be difficult. A choice between Eminem and Nelly, methinks, although Rewind (from Ministry of Sound) is pretty good too! |
Re: Album of 2004
For me it would have to be KEANE .......Hopes and Fears......I am well into my fifth decade and my daughter bought me their CD for Christmas and I love it.
Not too keen (no pun intended) on a lot of the modern music.....and I don't care for either the Smiths or Morrissey......heard too much of their dirges when daughter used to live at home. |
Re: Album of 2004
Keane - Hopes and Fears or Joss Stone
|
Re: Album of 2004

Re: Album of 2004
morrisey and the smiths where one of a kind and there ll never be another like them and as hard as it may seem listening to the words and what was behind them ,plus johnny marr was one of the best guitarists . When mozzer toured recently for the first time in years he sold out straight away and havent heard a bad word said about his gigs every report said it was like he d never been away redoing some of his old ones there isnt many albums or artists that i ll still be listening to ten years after buying them but never get bored with the smiths
