Paedophile pop mogul Jonathan King continued to protest his innocence as he left prison after serving three-and-a-half years for sexually abusing teenage boys.



He claimed his spell in custody had been "fantastic" and said he now intends to devote time to help pursue hundreds of miscarriage of justice cases.

King, who left Maidstone Prison in Kent at 7.10am, said: "I'm innocent of the charges against me. There is no issue of the acts being consensual, there were no acts. However much people try, you can't bend the truth.

"There's no truth in the offences whatsoever. One of the five men I am accused of abusing I have never even met and there is no evidence I ever did meet him."

He confirmed that his legal team are awaiting a judicial review to challenge the Criminal Cases Review Commission's decision not to refer his case to the Court of Appeal.

Lawyers claim the conviction is unlawful because the consent of the Director of Public Prosecutions was not sought.

"My lawyer tells me he is very certain of our case, so we hope that eventually the conviction will be quashed," said King.

As he travelled into London to meet probation officers, the former Genesis producer claimed life behind bars had been "fascinating".

"It was the most fantastic three-and-a-half years of my life, in prison," he said. "You meet fascinating people and get to see the other side of the world, one that you never knew existed. Like most people, I had the view that once the prison gate slams shut, hell takes place, but the reality couldn't be further from the truth."

All I'll say is that victims get very little justice when people like him come out of prison and show no remorse and serve half their term! For what he did he'd best slink away!

But l think it needs to be noted.
The victims were apparently all over 16 at the time, and he claims it was consensual. The law at the time the offences occured, stated that it was illegal to have same sex relations with someone under the age of 21, [it was 16 for hetrosexuals.] They were regarded as minors. This is just a note about why he thinks he's had an unfair trial.

Peter Stringfellow would have been in the next cell if the same age of consent had been applied to another hetrosexual dirty old man.

I'm not defending him, l think he's a total prat, but that's by the by.

what i dont understand is i have occasionally read over the years that -murderers are not realeased early cos they wont admit there guilt and dont show remorse,am i missing summat here?

Ive given evidence in a trial & the favour is to the perpretrator as i found that the innocent are guilty n the guilty are innocent as i found in courts !!! Tellin u its hell to get a small amount of justice n having their barristers call u in public without proof a liar is very acceptable while u are going thro the hell nitemare but u call the perpretrator a liar n u isnt allowed mmmm how fair is that nevermind the rubbish sentences !!

There's no deterrant when perverts only do half the sentence that they should have done. He only got seven years to start with, and to only do 3.5, then be released. The sentences should be a lot longer and tougher. Also when they are released they should be castrated, dirty b***ards.

We convicted a perv just over 4 years ago, he was given 2 years 12months suspended, but went down for 12 months, he did not make it past 6 weeks in prison.He died so to us that was beyond justice as we were warned by the CPS at tha start that he may not even get a prision sentance.He thought he had got away with it for over 10 years. so we say Don't give up ,even if it was years ago it happened. He tried to blame the girls involved saying they entised him, i ask you two 8 year olds asking for it!!!! good riddance to bad rubbish, even went and stood at the back at the the funeral to make sure.

I really dont think this belongs in the music section!!! The music section seems to be dead enough without having to see this thread here

But my view is i think they should perform brain tests on them(and after they are dead) To see what if there is an anomoly that can be found to make them this way.....

If you think the music section is dead then maybe you can think of a few things to liven it up? It would be very welcome.


As it is I think Jason probably put it in this section because the music industry is where this guy made the money that allowed him the chance to appear attractive to these young people. I'm sure the music/entertainment industry would like to be kept apart from such publicity, but as in 'normal' life there are people within that sphere that will try to take advantage of the young and Naive.

It needs to be in the music section as much as any other section, because we all need to realise that constant vigilance in every social sphere to protect the innocent is far better than trying to pick up the pieces after something tragic has happened.

He had a wide and varied career in the music industry, some of it good some of it not good at all, it is just a shame that he like so many allowed his baser instincts to turn a successful (like him or loathe him it was successful) career into what it has now become.

The thing I can't get to grips with is that he had such a good time in prison. This explains why we have so many offenders of varying natures in this country. If the prison system is no longer a punishment but a cushy number, then it's time for a change. If prisons were made to be hard labour, no perks and a hard life, surely that would be more of a deterrant to our criminal fraternity whatever their crime...:cool:

Famous or not, the man is a prat. He has the same entertainment value as Timmy Mallett.:D

ive changed my mind about how this shouldnt have been in this section....

Its funny how many people in the music buisness are this way......gary glitter(who if i saw in the street i would kick the living daylights out of 1 for being a peado and 2 for making awful music) r kelly, pete townsend(who maintained his innocence)....maybe michael jackson & others that i cant spring to mind. Its ashame these kind of people exist, especially in your own town where you think you are safe as you see these things on tv, internet & newspapers etc. Like that guy mark davis(who actually used to work with me) he was sent down for grooming little boys, this guy was in clayton. He was always strange, he used to follow one of the women home. This guy bought me coffee, and then to see his face in the front page of the telegragh was disturbing to say the least

j.k. is not alone unfortunately,theres loads of these perverts in life in every walk.since all the doogooders came along life in many areas has gone downhill,i believe that governments @the judicary dont come down hard enough cos a lot of them drink from the same trough.

I cant understand why the age of consent is different for hetrosexual and homosexual relationships.
Am I right in thinking it is 18 for homosexual or is it still 21?
