Rory to Morecambe
Must be silly season....according to a colleague of mine in my office at Blackburn, there's a suggestion that RP may be making a move to North Lancashire.
Seriuosly, even I can't believe that....can I? Congrats on tonights silver ware in the cabinet by the way. |
Re: Rory to Morecambe
Hows about......We keep Rory and you take Coleman??

Why???????????????????

Re: Rory to Morecambe
Come on Redskin, why on earth would we want to let the Shrimps have JC or Rory for that matter. Great game tonight, even if it was an anti climax score wise. Nice to see Rory get the ball for once and allow him to run at the defence. As for Johnny Coleman, he's done an excellent job IMHO although sometimes we don't agree with his decisions. Next season will be the true test of his management skills. Isn't this the one Eric said we had to be in the league by? Failure is not a word in Eric's dictionary.

Re: Rory to Morecambe
Can confirm that Rory will be at Morecambe next season.
He will be wearing no 11 & stuffing the living daylights out of you shrimps down the wing, as we did this season, when we visit Christie Park for our trip to collect your annual gift of 3 points. |
Re: Rory to Morecambe
We Need To Keep Hold Of Him , He Is A Great Player And Would Be Stupid To Let Him Go
And As For Coley , NO WAY !!!!!!! We Cant Lose Coley Either |
Re: Rory to Morecambe
What makes it utter cobblers is....we want money for him and you ain't got nowhere near enough! Congrats accepted.
|
Re: Rory to Morecambe
was listening to radio lancs last night and just as i was to get out of the car heard coley say that he has been like a child sometimes when he didnt get his way and this is one of the things he wants to improve on. maybe just maybe this was a public apology to rory just a thought cant wish enough that he would stay
|
Re: Rory to Morecambe
rory 2 morecambe? dont be silly..
|
Re: Rory to Morecambe
Sorry Morecambe fans,he's not coming your way!:)
|
Re: Rory to Morecambe
That sounds like the definitive answer. Rory's going nowhere!
|
Re: Rory to Morecambe
Sadly I can't confirm that Sparks, but he deffo ain't going to Morecambe!:)
|
Re: Rory to Morecambe
So where is he going Lindsay ???
|
Re: Rory to Morecambe
Nowhere for the time being. He is still in contract for another season.I would love to be able to say that he would be staying with the club but I think we all know that it's unlikely.Anyway,he will be at presentation night on Sat and will be raring to go against the Ultras on Sunday! You could always try bringing him down Shurm, and talk some sense into him!;) [having said that you would have to catch him first!]
|
Re: Rory to Morecambe
Ive already told him he better have his shin pads on and told him not to dive like he usually does. He replied with "im gonna get you" hehehe
Chris Butler also said he is sharpenin his stoods hehehe |
Re: Rory to Morecambe
Rory is on his way to Morecambe.
its regarded as the worst kept secret here and is a done deal. |
Re: Rory to Morecambe

Here are three good reasons why Rory would not be going to Morecambe:- 1) He took some persuading to turn pro and to leave a good job at the Post Office in West Yorkshire , so at this point in his career he will be looking to maximise the opportunities on his next move , therefore . . . 2) . . . he would be ill-advised to move to another Conference club who have carved out a unique niche as Nearly-Men-By-The-Sea , and who are unlikely to further his (understandable) ambitions by one iota. 3) He has often said that his ambition is to play for a famous Yorkshire side . It's very clear when I talk to anyone in Bradford that they still think of him as one of their own , and they see a natural place for him at Valley Parade - well above his present club status. By all means, let's accept the likelihood of him wanting to depart the current management set up , but I find it difficult to believe that even the combined ghosts of Thora Hird , Ted Lune , Colin Crompton and Eric Bartholomew could lure him to the desolation of Morecambe where - it was famously said - "You could explode a hand-grenade on the prom on Bank Holiday Monday and still not hurt anybody". |
Re: Rory to Morecambe
I doubt you have ever been on Morecambe prom on a Bank Holiday!!
At this time last year we told the Chester fans Michael Twiss was signing for us. They laughed , one even said he would eat his hat if he signed for us!! The rest is history. I believe he was only a part-time postman so the sacrifice to full-time football was not too great. As mentioned watch this space !! |
Re: Rory to Morecambe
You can dream Morecambe Red - but it ain't gonna happen!
|
Re: Rory to Morecambe
Why on earth would Rory move to a lesser club when his talent exceeds the standards at Stanley?
Morecambe_red, you're a fool YOU SHATAAAAP I bet he stays with us anyway, get a spin doctor in to make out he's a ravin alcy n no1 will touch him!! sorted ;) |
Re: Rory to Morecambe
not saying I want it to happen, but dont say you werent told !!
|
Re: Rory to Morecambe
No chance of Rory going up there, if he was going to leave then it would be for a club in league 1 or 2.
BUT HE AINT LEAVIN AND NEITHER IS J.C!!! Nationwide Conference Champions 2005-06 |
Re: Rory to Morecambe
never said anything about JC . No managerial vacancy here at Christie but we all know if there was JC would walk all the way here for the job !!
|
Re: Rory to Morecambe
Well he made a good move leaving you :)
|
Re: Rory to Morecambe
I would be very suprised if he was here next season. I have heard a rumour but it is not Morcambe.

Its all talk and rumours.... no point elaborating on tittle tattle :)
|
Re: Rory to Morecambe
as mentioned no managerial vacancy here at Christie and unlikely to be.
Just from talking to other fans I dont think Coleys style of football would be in the Morecambe tradition. We like a passing game. |
Re: Rory to Morecambe
Sorry to shatter the illusions over there in Morecambe but the Roar is NOT going to sign for you.I spoke to him earlier today and he said he couldn't play against Stanley,he just couldn't do it.Keep on dreamin'!
|
Re: Rory to Morecambe
I didnt say we wanted him Lindsay !!
But did he say he was staying at Accrington ??? |
Re: Rory to Morecambe
Quote:
if a conference club comes for him with bags of money.. will he refuse to join them if he has to play against us... sorry but somehting wrong wiht this picture surely? we all want rory to stay.. i havent come accross anyone yet that doesnt... if he wasnt such a good player there wouldnt be any talk of him going anywhere else.... but lets keep it in the realms of reality eh.... :) |
Re: Rory to Morecambe
I dont believe it - we arent a week off finishing our season and quite obviously 'silly season' has started already!!!! At least it was a couple of weeks after, last season....

Re: Rory to Morecambe
Yeah,c'mon Jimbo,it's not all bad,it's actually stopped raining here for a bit!;)

Re: Rory to Morecambe
I will elaberate. I heard Exeter would be where Rory would be gracing the wing next season. Its so ridiculous it just may be true.

Re: Rory to Morecambe
Ridiculous and untrue,he categorically stated he would not be playing against Stanley next season.:) He has emphasised his desire to play League football on many occasions, why on earth would he travel all the way to Exeter to play in the same division as he has for the last 3 seasons.....
|
Re: Rory to Morecambe
i couldnt beleive it but i can only pass on what im told.
|
Re: Rory to Morecambe
Seagull .. Its raining pink fluffy dices in accy... tell all yer mates :)
|
Re: Rory to Morecambe
I heard rumours a while back about Exeter.
They are having to cut their wages bill drastically so may not be true. |
Re: Rory to Morecambe
Blimey,I even looked out the window then just to be sure! All that is really needed is some serious bridge building between certain members of the management team and certain players. It's not beyond redemption just yet but I am bloody sure we would all like to see Rory pulling on a Stanley shirt at the start of next season.Tell him what you think on Saturday night, tell Eric that losing him is a massive mistake, tell Coley if you are feeling brave/drunk enough.Either way get down to IES on Sunday and watch one classy winger in action![Sorry Loweiy,I mean Rory!]:engsmil:

Re: Rory to Morecambe
[QUOTE=lindsay ormerod]All that is really needed is some serious bridge building between certain members of the management team and certain players.
I may not be as qualified to comment as some of you guys on here, as, through work commitments, I can only attend half of the season's games.... BUT... I have been a manager, in my chosen field, for most of my working life, & the ONE thing, above all that I have learned, is, YOU DON'T NEED TO LIKE THE PEOPLE THAT WORK FOR YOU!!! I have many colleagues that I RESPECT... that doesn't mean that I would enjoy their company over dinner or a pint... I don't have to socialise with them & their spouses... what I have to do, is get the best out of them whilst they are under my control, for the 40 or so hours that they are employed by me. This, quite simply, means, in my opinion, find out all you can about your employee, decide upon his/her strengths & weaknesses, play on the strengths, downplay the weakness. Somehow, although I have only been 'with' the club as a supporter for half of Coley's reign, their are many instances over the last three seasons where I have had difficulty in understanding some of the decisions made by 'management'. I do respect what the management team has achieved over the last six seasons, & don't want to particularly 'knock' their decisions... perhaps, if there was a little more 'transparancy', & certain decisions were explained, either on here or the 'fishy', maybe supporters such as myself would have a little more confidence in what goes on, off the pitch. |
Re: Rory to Morecambe
I posted some similar "managerial" stuff on an earlier thread and got shot down for it!The basics of good management are the same for whatever field you are in and you have them in a nutshell there. You play to your strengths, praise and criticise in equal measure, but always be constructive. Lead by example,if and when you make a mistake, admit it,and above all DON'T HAVE FAVOURITES!
|
Re: Rory to Morecambe
well said lindsay/kitchener but I have to say I respect JC as a leader and as we all know he's not afraid to speak his mind even if at times it does seem rather questionable but as I would be as much use as a footy manager as I would a ballerina I will withold my thoughts on his management style.... but after saying all that....................... RORY DON'T GO!!! But if by chance you do I can only wish you all the luck and success in the world
|
Re: Rory to Morecambe
...it REALLY is silly season now!
According to an informed Stanley lad in my office who is normally spot on with his news, the latest to be linked with my lot is a certain player who has had a number of problems with Coley this season. Evidently we made a bid for him before he decided to join a league club. Don't worry fellas, even I find that too hard to believe.....BUT would be the ideal partner for Mr.T! |
Re: Rory to Morecambe
Evil?
Join the same team as that cheating Kempson? Save your BS for your own forum  |
Re: Rory to Morecambe
With Brown & Roberts being offered new contracts the incentive will be for Rory to stay. A brill setup to feed him on the wing with Mullers & Evil banging em in all the way to the football league. Rory knows this club is going up this next season so a few months to fulfill his ambition as a league player is on his doorstep. Coley has no favourites as he said at the last forum, but he knows for all his discrepancies with Rory he is the best in the conf. New song for Morecambe when we visit Crusty Park next season: "Rory here, you're havin a laff!"
|
Re: Rory to Morecambe
Just trawling through some old posts, came across this one, & thought, how many of us still hold the same opinions?
Be interesting to have current comments from those who posted!! BTW, where's Lindsay Ormerod these days? Havn't seen her on here for ages? |

Re: Rory to Morecambe
Yes McEvelly and Craney both wanted to come to Morecambe in the summer but obviously Eric wouldnt do business. May be different when Craney's contract expires in the summer.
|
Re: Rory to Morecambe
No disrespect but get real fella - Craneys been attracting interest this season from league clubs - why would he go to Morecambe? Actually - thinking about it, Eric might be more pleased if he went to Morecambe with the sell on clause Alty have on him... less to pay Alty...
Jimbo T :horn8:blower |
Re: Rory to Morecambe
he'd never sign for morecambe! Why would he leave us for them? we are better than them. They just about beat us when we had ten men for the majority off the game and he is a fans favourite at the IES, i'm sure he knows we he is really wanted!
|
Re: Rory to Morecambe
After rectifiying my original post I would just like to say Great result today for your lot and well done!
Your manager deserves a big pat on the back for this performance, lost two massive players last season and comes back with this..........Genius! And for the record Brannan had a decent debut today but truth be known I don't think many were too bothered about the football or the fact we lost as our minds were elsewhere with a more important issue. |
Re: Rory to Morecambe
hope your gaffer gets well soon :)
