Great Harwood Town FC

Are they going to be ground sharing with us next season...All season..

Re: Great Harwood Town FC

From what we have been told at skem, they are due to play all their games at Accy next season.. A fantastic gesture to a local club fallen on bad times..

Re: Great Harwood Town FC

With all the problems they had last season on and off the pitch they where lucky to survive. I can't find much info on the web. The Harwood website seems to suggest that some issues are yet to be resolved
http://www.greatharwoodtown.non-league.org/MainPage.htm

As the newly formed FCUM are in the same league then I have my fingers crossed for an early Harwood home game against them for a bumper pay day that will go a long way to helping the clubs future.. I guess all the NWCL teams will have the same thought :)

Re: Great Harwood Town FC

great harwood will be playing all their home fixtures at the interlink express stadium next season due to the fact that their own ground is still some way off being ready to stage matches again following the fire there last season.

Looks like there are going to be a lot of matches at IES next season. Let's hope the pitch is up to it, does anyone know if we still have a groundsman ? I have been told that Jim Shaw has not been seen for four or five weeks.

Re: Great Harwood Town FC

As our reserves used to play at Harwood and still did to the end of last season. (but I have seen complaints re lack of changing rooms) Where will they play this season?

I presume Accy fixtures come first of course.. But what about as allways happens.. we have to re arrange many fixtures due to cup runs ect...can we then move harwood fixtures to better accomodate us mid season or only when the fixtures are out..

Talking of fixtures.. If the NWCL fixtures are out before ours then how does that work in our favour?

Are there any Great Harwood fans on this MB?

Jim Shaw hasn't been the groundsman for over 6/7 months now, its Anthony Mallon

Thought Anthony was the kit man? Or does he do both jobs

Re: Great Harwood Town FC

Are Burnley Reserves also using the IES for home games next season?

rob 23-06-2005 15:05

Re: Great Harwood Town FC

burnley aren't using our stadium for reserve matches next season, and while a venue for our reserves has yet to be confirmed it is unlikely that it will be the interlink express stadium.

as far as fixtures go, our use of the stadium will always take priority over great harwood's requirements, although we don't expect to encounter any problems.

I thought Anthony was Jim's apprentice, but obviously I'm wrong. Is Anthony experienced enough to be THE groundsman, he's a bit young isn't he to know all there is to know about keeping the pitch in top class condition. Perhaps Rob can tell us who the groundsman is, and what happened to Jim Shaw.

Anthony is the kitman and head groundsman and Big Ste is his assistant,

Anthony has been doing the pitch full time since around February.....

With all the comments you received last season Adam I take it you are going to be very mature this season. Bet someone will still query the use of youthful & talent in the same sentence by you!http://www.accringtonweb.com/forum/i...cons/icon7.gif

Anthony has been groundsman for quite a bit now and there is no dout that he is capable of doing it.
Just walk past the IES soon and see what the pitch is looking like now, its fantastic, and all down to our "young" anthony :D

In that case we could really do to know whats going on... If that unwell maybe a card from stanley fans at the very minimum....

Good point Tony. Come on Rob, spill the beans. Is it a get well card or compliments for all your work & enjoy your retirement card we need?

We (Skem) ground shared with Burscough a couple of seasons ago, due to us getting a new stadium.. You have nothing to worry about, Accy will have full priority and GH and the NWCL will work around your fixtures. We even had to play an FA cup game on a Sunday, it is workable

I have information from inside the club that Jim retired several months ago. Even so he has put a lot of years into the club & laid the base for Anthony to continue with. I remember him telling me when he first took over that the ground was so bad there weren't even any worms in the soil to aerate the pitch. Surely he deserves more than just a quiet demise from the club. Thanks Jim from me & I am sure many other long term supporters who have viewed Jims contribution to the club.http://www.accringtonweb.com/forum/i...ons/icon14.gif

Re: Great Harwood Town FC

To be honest when I first came to Stanley I was astonished at the fine quality of the pitch. I remember asking Mick who was the groundsman at the time (around Christmas) so I could give him a mention on the radio. Stanley are unbeaten at home in 2005 and I fel the standard of the pitch has a lot to with it. It could rival any league club and long may it continue because nobody wants to see or play football on a poor surface. I think Mr Shaw will be badly missed if he has gone.

Re: Great Harwood Town FC

He is now 70 years old and last season when the weather was bad he couldnt go on with the tractor because it wud make tire marke, so he got the roller, put the chain round his back and dragged it him self for about 3 hours. Top guy!!!
eeeee hell anthony ;) :D

Yep he will be, BUT if you look at the pitch from Christmas last season and the start of this season you be sure to say its in 'safe hands'...
