Wrexham striker Lee McEvilly has escaped a fine from Manager Denis Smith after a show of petulance in Monday's friendly against Newry City. The summer signing from non-league Accrington Stanley was substituted just 25 minutes into the game following an exchange of words with the match referee, who warned the Dragons boss that a red card was imminent. That would have prompted a three-match ban with effect from the start of the League Two campaign on August 6 and Smith warned that McEvilly would not be so fortunate next time. Smith said "He won't be fined on this occasion but if he is sent of during the season for doing something similar I'll be absolutedly fuming and he will be very severely hammered"
