Personally that would be a tad difficult... Our coach organisers were told well before the game they were not welcome in the bar (and this is as far as I understand it) before during or after the game so why would they even try??

To be honest I were suprised at Alty all credit to em, tonight they played some good football and there centre midfield was very good.....if they play like that this season they wont go down...BUT.... at the end of the day if we can play so poorly like that and come away with 3 points thats fantastic! and thats what we did!

Welch goal. None of us in press box could work it out. Nightmare. Matty has claimed the goal but I think he headed the keepers arm rather than touched the ball.

Anyway from my perspective:

Ultras getting better by the game. Looked quality from where I was. Plenty of noise and the streamers were genius. I'm ashamed put I was ****ing myself during the minute silence. Those poor kids. You all made a right mess. PLease do it again on Saturday!!!!!

Team performance wasn't great but you could always sense that there was one in the bag from somewhere and so it proved although it was the hardest goal to describe ever!

Jones was brillant, what he called a 'perfect start to his Stanley career. His enthusiasm and attitude will rub off on the other players most certainly. He loved the song and he also says you lot are the best fans he's known (and he's had 6 or 7 clubs remember).

He wants you to be like that at every game though, so keep it up guys. You may have won Stanley the match tonight!!!

Still, would echo the sentiments from previous posts, not a good game at all, but still came away with the three points. Stuart Jones was superb, loved the new song!

Great to see a former Macclesfield player getting one over on the Alty types!

Make sure you encourage him to shoot from long range. He scored one against Hull from all of 40 yards but just didn't try it so much after that.

maybe if the collection of the streamers had been left till after the minute silence there wouldn't be this bad feeling in the thread.

was not at game so only gleaming info from this thread.

heard some of the reports on radio lancs and thought it would end as a 0-0 but as i was working didn't know score till i logged-on at 0735.

lets hope things settle with mid-field and then team can push forward a bit more

You're right.

That's exactly the point . The willing-but-inept team of clearer-uppers should have adopted stationary positions for that short silence , especially as (I understand) it was in acknowledgment of the passing of a much respected Altrincham supporter .

The silence was kept impeccably by both sets of supporters , but - as Adam Cottier suggests - there was enormous comedy potential in the antics of the "helpers" on the pitch , and the temptation to chuckle was almost irresistible .

Don't find fault with people , please . Just recognise that humour raises its head spontaneously at the least convenient moments !

Minutes silence was for Neil Thomason, the Alty youth team coach who died suddenly during the close season. The willing helpers were the team of ball-boys who had been lined up at the side of the pitch as the two teams came out of the changing rooms. With hindsight it might have been better to send them onto the pitch after the minutes silence. With even more hindsight it might have been better for the Accrington fans to have been allowed onto the pitch to clear up the mess themselves. I actually thought throwing missiles onto the pitch was a chucking out offence. You will I suppose think i'm having a total sense of humour failure here, but I really don't see what is so funny about chucking a load of paper on to the pitch and holding up the start of the game.

Adam thats the stupidest comment Ive ever heard, you can never have to much advertising, thats what pays the bills idiot. You'll learn the harsh truth about fundraising and making enough money to run a football club when your eccentric millionaire calls it a day. Full time squads on gates of 1,012? maybe if your commercial department did a bit more, your poor gates wouldnt be such a worry, Our Budget is set for attendances of 655, so we've no worries if our gates dip, what will you do if they ont pick up. Football clubs in Accrington dont have the best record when it comes to survival do they?

Alty fans have to understand that every forum has one. ours is adam cottier the self confessed rovers fan who constantly puts his foot in it.

I have to agree with the alty fan as regards advertsiing... we have names on the back of our shirts now.. we sold the name of the club ground and every part of the ground is up for sponsorship and thats all GOOD .. there was uproar when the name of the ground changed but that money has helped us go forward.. Grahame Charnley and Interlink express should be well thanked... Clubs need money to survive... and need more money to go forward.

More advertising the better

Of course the rest of what the alty fan says is all made up in his tiny little mind.. he has no idea how much money this club is making or how well off it is.. but he will probably tell us all how he knows someone who knows someone so he knows more than us sigh.....
