Rory Prendergast
Went to watch el Rorio in action tonight. Played well, but still suffering from the 'don't get passed the ball enough syndrome.' Anyway, one topic of conversation on the way home from Cambridge at the weekend (other than Le goalkeeper le rubbish) was the possibilty of sponsoring Rory. At Blackpool, the players kits (both home and away) are available to sponsor. Rory's home shirt is already taken, but not his away shirt.
The general consensus among those on the coach was that it would be a good idea for us (all involved with Stanley) to put something towards sponsoring him - a goodwill, thank you gesture if you like. I'm not sure on how much it is, but who would be interested? Say £10 each depending on numbers. I doubt it would more than £200 to do it. I know some may think its a bad idea (ie giving money to another club) but Rory did take time out to talk to fans and was always held in very high esteem by all who got know him well and he liked the idea when I mentioned it to him tonight. |
Re: Rory Prendergast
Absoloutly ludicrous idea.. I have nothing against Rory.. In fact quite like him... But for crying out loud!!!
What about the players who are playing for stanley who dont have a sponsor... they talk to fans as well and are quite liked. How are they going to feel when they havent got a sponsor but fans clubbed together to sponsor an ex player instead of them ? Crackpot idea IMHO ... But as always.. Just IMHO |
Re: Rory Prendergast
My thoughts exactly mr K, just doesn't make sense.
|
Re: Rory Prendergast
We've got exactly five pledges on the pledges thread and we're talking about sponsoring a player from another club??
Madness...sheer madness. |
Re: Rory Prendergast
£200 would buy one big flag that could read "Adam is a F-ing Twit!"
Anyone want to donate cash? |
Re: Rory Prendergast
How's about we sponser Evil at Wrexham, Jamo at Southport, Smithy at Barrow, Flickers at Barrow, Lutel at Alty, etc, etc, etc. That will only cost us about £1,000, what a good idea.

Re: Rory Prendergast

Is this poster a complete idiot - or is there a bit missing..?
|
Re: Rory Prendergast
this was not my initial idea but I see the majority are jumping on the bandwagon. As usual, I get the flack. Rory says hello to all, for what it's worth.

Re: Rory Prendergast
put into perspective adams still an arse, FA CUP possible draw accrington staney v blackpool and rory it wont work if 20 people want to put £10.00 in to sponser a kit for feron then even i might be interested we have plenty of talent in our own ranks that need help let it stop with them.

Re: Rory Prendergast
To All!
This proposal may be misguided, but why all the abuse??...........and then we wonder why the gates are going down! Childish from all concerned! |
Re: Rory Prendergast
Adam "THE ARSE" why don't you do the right thing and put a proper pledge from yourself on the pledges thread which I set up.
|
Re: Rory Prendergast
I'll abuse him to his face saturday, and on the coach monday!
Its cus its Adam!!!!!! |
Re: Rory Prendergast
Its called Cotty baiting.. he loves the attention.. also he is at every game as the radio lancs presenter anyways...
Have to admit though.. anyone reading who doesnt know we are having fun would get the impression we are a bit of a nasty bunch i suppose... |
Re: Rory Prendergast
I'm interested to know how many sponsorship opportunities are open, players etc etc. I do know that not all the games have been covered this season. Have all the "baiters" sponsored a player??
|
Re: Rory Prendergast

This baiter spent £125 on flying a plane over Turd Puddle This baiter put money in when coach was down last year (£155 at Gravesend) This baiter paid a share of the free coach travel (£125) This baiter spent £406 on season tickets, car parking & shirts This ..... need I go on? |
Re: Rory Prendergast

So I think I've got every right to criticise Adam's idea. And it's not down to personalities either, as I've never met Adam! |

Re: Rory Prendergast
Without wishing to be patronising , I think that Adam's idea is well-meant but misguided.
If I wanted to show my respect for Rory Prendergast next week I'd go to watch him at Bloomfield Road. I'd join in with all the Blackpool supporters in applauding a fine left-winger and I'd be proud that he'd played for Stanley. Perhaps I'd be queuing up alongside all those Bradford Park Avenue fans who saw their star player summarily removed from the team half-way through the season three years ago. Did we see those Rory fans travel every week from Bradford to Accrington ? No we did not , despite the fact that they'd just lost a player who'd scored 14 goals before Christmas ! Whenever we meet up with Rory (and, as Willie Miller suggests, other fine Stanley players from the past) we'll smile and say "Well done". But no more than that , thank you. |
Re: Rory Prendergast
gotta say I was pretty amazed when i saw in todays programme how few players have been sponsered. oh and according to the programme the world wide web supporters have not been put down for paul mullin, although I'm sure its correct at the club it's not in the programme!
|
Re: Rory Prendergast
harwood red... they sold out before i could get one.. but i looked at bottletops program and it has word wide reds at the side of paul mullin..... take another look :)
the red wording is for home kit.. the blue is for away kit http://www.kipax.com/mbgfx/sponsorship.jpg |
Re: Rory Prendergast
if the club was to have a section on the website like they do in the program do you think it may bring in more player sponsorship
|
Re: Rory Prendergast
exactly.. i asked that very question last week.. was told its all in hand.. sorting the program first and then the website... so watch this space as they say :)

Re: Rory Prendergast
brill something else to look forward to
