Where's Our Roof ....song!

does Eric Whalley contemplate my fate and does he know the places where we go when we´re wet and cold ´cos I´ve been told that a roof only costs ten grand so when I’m lying in my bed thoughts running through my head and I feel that footys dead I’m loving Mr Khan instead and through it all he offers me protection from all the rain and pollution whether we win or lose and down the conference wherever it may take me I know that rain wont break me when I come to call the roof wont forsake me I’m loving rooves instead :engsmil: :engsmil: :engsmil: |

|
Re: where's the roof?
Is there any money available for it? Can Gayle Knight not get some through the National Lottery Local Heritage Initiative? Is Accrington Stanley Football Club not a part local tradition and part of our culture? Is the location of the Interlink Express Ground not a local land mark? She states that there are Grants of between £3,000 and £25,000 up for grabs, if you can’t raise the cash through the LHI there must be other funds available. I don’t know what’s been done before by the club but I appreciate an idea of what as been done today and what’s being done for the future.

Operation Umbrellas Make Roof
Everybody bring an umbrella on friday night, tell yer mates. Lets all stand together under our vinyl roof and shout for the roof. Or everybody into the tin shack (sorry oldie types its gonna loud). Abandon the open spaces. leave only the flags waving in wet solitude. We will fight them on the beaches, we will fight them under the roof. Churchill had a roof when he made that speech. Let the roof wars begin.
Buy Mr Whalley a kangaROO For christmas |

Re: where's the roof?
wasn't sure which thread to reply to, few to choose from. quick update though, we have another meeting with the lancashire county council on thursday afternoon and will make sure an update is posted on the official stanley website after that. thank you for your patience...
|
Re: where's the roof?
Did the cheque bounce? Has the cheque been received from Hong Kong? Has it been spent on other things (new bulb for the floodlights, tiolet paper in the loo, or bigger pies). Come on Stanley, tell your supporters what is going on with the invisible roof. AH, maybe that's it, the roof is already there, maybe we can't see it
|
Re: where's the roof?
Confused.:(
I thought we had the new roof. Is it not what Jase gets everyone to hold above our heads at the start of the match?:) |
Re: where's the roof?
Rob has given an official reply on this subject, so maybe we can stop with the childish prittle-prattle now eh?
Once there is an update to report, it'll be posted on the official site. |

|
Roof Banner
maybe the only way eric will listen is if the ultras make a banner !!! :D :p :D
any ideas on what, if made, it could say ??? |
Re: Operation Umbrellas Make Roof
Don't you think we'd be better employed actually cheering the team on to another win?
And as for Eric, he has been "getting his ass in gear" (to paraphrase your disrespectful term) for a good number of years now. This is why the club has made such amazing progress both on and off the field, roof or no roof! |
Re: where's the roof?
Maybe we should have clogged up the official site a bit more.
|
Re: where's the roof? (merged)

And he was online 30 minutes ago .... but no longer.
Nothing to say, Rob? We have! Where's the roof? |
Re: where's the roof? (merged)
Leave poor Rob alone, bless him....he has to count the receipts from various raffles etc for the new roof. Oops did I say roof?
The officials of the club would prefer not to be reminded about the promises made. Still we are top of the Conference and that is all that matters. |
Re: where's the roof? (merged)
yes but where's the roof?!
|
Re: where's the roof? (merged)
I have heard on the roofvine that THE ROOF, currently situate in Barbados, is not a happy spectator cover. The weather is so good out there that it has had few chances to test its metal. A transfer request is in the offing and I believe Frickley have put a five bob bid in to test the water (where the roof leaks). Other clubs are gathering like vultures to try and secure the services, on the cheap, of our mythical, almost legendary, structure. Meanwhile, the Ultras drum-skins deteriorate daily after every downpour. A task force should be sent, Falklands style, to capture and return the roof to our fans. It's a straight choice.....be ruthless or roofless!
|
Re: where's the roof? (merged)
Does this mean the ultras are now going to war?
|
Re: where's the roof? (merged)
Well, Rob, are you going to tell us what happened at last Thursday's meeting with the LCC or is it a secret?
|
Re: where's the roof? (merged)
Aye C'mon. Did the meeting take please and what transpired?????????????? Still at Square One?

Re: where's the roof? (merged)

Some people seem easy to please with the same answer we have had many times. If there is no start date then the chances of it being done this season are poor to say the least. |

The dedicated people who run this club are on a steep learning curve and it's only natural that they will make a few mistakes along the way. After all, they are in uncharted waters. They are also ambitious and this may sometimes cause them to promise us things that take longer to materialise than they - and we - anticipated. However, I have every faith that in time they will fufill those promises and achieve all that we desire from a roof over the Clayton End to a place in the football league. Call me easy to please, even call me gullible if you want, Someone, but I would rather have a cherished dream in my heart than a cynical sneer on my lips. Don't just keep the faith...spread it. |

Re: where's the roof? (merged)
The club give you the same old excuse and your "wheres the roof" campaign dies a death.
Impressive. |
Re: where's the roof? (merged)
Well we have been given an answer, if it isn't constructed by end of the season as the club say then question again will be inevitabely asked...
|
Re: where's the roof? (merged)
I, for one, am disappointed at the continual delays.
In December 2003, Eric said the roof was our #1 priority and that "We expect the construction work to be carried out at the end of the season, all ready for the 2004/05 campaign". In May, it was "we are optimistic that work will start on the covering for the clayton Terrace early in June. The structural calculations that we were waiting for are now all but complete and as soon as they are passed by the building inspector we can order the steelwork and start to lay the concrete foundations. The work has taken longer than we had initially hoped, however this is mainly down to getting the work done at the right price. The people involved with these projects have saved us thousands of pounds and it is unfair of anyone to criticise them because we haven't had things ready as quickly as we wanted. If money was no object I am sure we could have got things moving much sooner, but there is no grant funding available for Nationwide Conference clubs at the moment and so this means that the club must pay the full amount for the developments". It can only appear that the club's primary objective is to hope that we are promoted to the Football League and that we will get the additional funding that has already been cited for the Whinney Hill side development. If the gates are not high enough to afford such expenditures at the moment and that the very real possibility of being promoted means that it is better to wait and spend the money on wages now and receive the grants on promotion later, I wish the club would just say so. They have said the same thing about the Whinney Hill side development and we are all grown-up enough to understand such an argument. But to be repeatedly strung along like this only leads to frustration and disappointment with each delay. |
Re: where's the roof? (merged)
...its only a roof :)
|
Re: where's the roof? (merged)
At the end of the day, whilst the roof doesn't seem to be any nearer completion, there has definately been a lot of work done on getting a good squad together, surely this should be our priority anyway...?
|
Re: where's the roof? (merged)
Then why did you all mention the roof in the first place if it isn't important to you?
|
Re: where's the roof? (merged)
my problem is not the roof or lack of it, it is the lack of information that comes out of the club. After whipping up a storm last week the club saw fit to tell us that they had a meeting on thursday to discuss the matter. The outcome of this meeting was not passed to the people until Monday. I know that the administration at Stanley have other jobs to do but it does not take long to tap up a little message. This is indicative of a lot of things at Stanley that could be done better by all, including us. I spoke on the Spreading the Gospel thread about getting in print more often and the club could be in the Telegraph every night if they so wished. The inclusion of a bar and refreshment area did not materialise on Thursday. It would have been mooted and planned weeks or months ago. Keep us informed please Stanley for we are the customers and your employers.

Re: where's the roof? (merged)
Yeah you're right...........
Where is that roof? |
Re: where's the roof? (merged)
Sounds to me like the club havent just got a roof planned for the Clayton End but something a whole lot more professional AND bigger - a whole new stand - which is maybe the reason for the delays...
Jimbo T :horn8:blower |
Re: where's the roof? (merged)
If they are dithering over the roof to see if they can finance a stand then why wont they admit to it? Its dragging on and people are getting a bit fed up with the carry on.
