Mark Smyth
Signed on non-contract basis.
Mark Smyth is a product of Liverpool's youth academy who was given a new lease of life following the arrival of Rafael Benitez in 2004. The youngster was set to be released by Gerard Houllier. He broke through into the England Under-20 side in the 2004/05 season and made his debut for Liverpool in their Carling Cup quarterfinal victory over Tottenham in December. A lifelong Reds fan, Smyth is a pacy midfielder who has the ability to run at defenders and get forward. However, his stay of execution only lasted a year and he was released in May 2005. |

Re: Mark Smyth
coley said he wanted another midfielder and defender, so from that comment he is an addition to the squad not a replacement...

Re: Mark Smyth
Nice to see another signing, but we have also got Phil Edwards for another month from Wigan Athletic. Top day, let us hope that we can do ourselves justice tonight and go top of the league, even if it is for a few hours. Good luck to Mark and lets hope we can get him on full contract before someone nips in and gives us 7 days notice on him.
