Knowing that the gate against Ramsbottom will be next to nowt, what's the chances of a ridiculously low admission price.
Firstly this would reward the regulars by giving em a game for next to nowt and helping out our pockets
secondly big chance to attract the new crowd or floaters in a game that we should win handsomely.

The players will not enjoy playing in front of a sparse crowd on a cold night, and Ramsbottom won't enjoy playing at a bigger than usual empty ground.

I would think that £2 and £1 concession would attract em. £2 a throw to try and get 1000 would generate £2000 whereas £12 each for an estimated 250 (tops) would bring in £3000. But we would get better publicity in both the local papers and we do need the newbies. Also 1000 people would spend more money on the ground than 250 people would (a pint and a pie each would take care of the shortfall on the gate.

And an atmosphere at a ridiculously early stage of the local cup

You must be joking - we have been informed that it is :

£10.00 adults
£5.00 concessions


So as you can gather, not many Rammy supporters will be making the trip.

My question is, what will the Accy line up be? For £10.00 should we be expecting a near full strength side or am I living in dream world???

You've been told more than us then, as far as I know the admission prices haven't been announced yet but no matter what the figure is I'd imagine you can expect us to field near enough a full strength side as it's the only cup we're still in (apart from the prestigious Marsden Trophy or whatever it's called now) and we wouldn't want the embarrassment of going out so early

Sorry I got completely confused - this is what was the Marsden Trophy isn't it and yes I agree that £10 is a bit steep for this match - doubt that me & my kids will bother with it to be honest

The trophy has been renamed at the start of the season. It was the Marsden mate. I doubt we will bother paying 10 pounds each to sit in a near empty stadium watching a "strong" accrington team we have never seen before.

I doubt many fans will bother with it either.

I'd be surprised if there was more than 250, we only attracted 479 in our semi-final last year against Bamber Bridge.

Like maccawozzagod said, this was a great chance for some good Google Page Ranking for the club, particularly so close to Christmas and with home games on the following two Saturdays.

I've gotta to say that I will prob give this a miss and save a few pennies before xmas and I NEVER miss a home match!!!! If it had been nearer a fiver I would have prob come down. so really is this a case of stanley shooting themselves in the foot as they will prob take less all round than if they only charged a fiver. Less people at bar, buying pies etc...... :(

I have no wish to doubt the veracity of the statement from Ramsbottom about the proposed admission fees.

Nevertheless, I think it would be wise to wait for an official announcement from ASFC on the Official website.

The concept of "giveaway" pricing to attract new supporters is attractive, but it might be unfair on Ramsbottom who will possibly be hoping for the sort of decent windfall which goes with playing away at a "big" club.

An Adult admission fee of £6 seems about right to me. For all that Stanley is now a Conference club, £10 is difficult to justify, given that the Conference standards of stewarding etc. do not apply.
Also, our fully professional players are now a "fixed cost", so - unlike the time that we were semi-pro - there is no reason why our overall costs for this match should not actually be lower than in our Unibond days.

I agree Henry. I seeem to remember paying about that price for the Fleetwood game and it seems the right price for a game like this. However, at £10 I'll be giving the game a miss too. It's not just the price, but the game doesn't really excite me enough to warrant a cold night stood in an empty ground. At £6 I might very well be tempted.

Seriously considering giving this match a miss. Was quite excited when I heard the draw, but £10 to watch what will probably be your reserves play our lot on a cold winters nite in front of a small crowd is somewhat taking the mickey.
We didn't pay anything like that at Morecambe a couple of years ago.
And bear in mind that our normal admission price is £5, so although half-price tickets would be appreciated, thats still means we are paying more than normal.
Lets hope there is still time for your chairman to see sense!

I agree with you rammy. I know that our finances are watched very closely and all involved do a damn good job keeping stanley solvent. But in this case I think they would get a lot more people there if they brought the prices down to round the £6 mark, therefore sales of everything else would rise and they would probably make more than they would for the few who would pay £10 for this match!!

Prices now reduced to £8 for adults, £5 for concessions and £3 for children under 12. (see fishy site).

Good to see the club respond to criticism, but is it too little, too late?
