Re: Grays can only draw

A good night for the Reds after a 1-0 win against Ramsbottom with a Cav penalty after Mangan was brought down in the area. Dan, on 107, reckoned that Cooky was the best player on the field.

Alty left it late! After going behind in the 4th minute, Kieran Lugsden, who came on as a half-time sub, finally equalised in the second minute of added time. Kick off was delayed becauuse of problems with the floodlights so it was about 10:25 when it finished.

Re: Grayes can only draw

Not only can we congratulate Alty on there tremendous result at Grays, we can celebrate beating Rammy tonight as well - OK so the score was only 1-0 but who cares, as has been said, this may be our last season in this competition

Many Thanx Alty ,heres Hoping Morecambe Can Do The Same For Us On Saturday And Beat The Grays Lot:)

Re: Grayes can only draw

Great news indeed. I think a draw between Morecambe n Grays would be nicer. Whilst we are givin out congratulations, well done to Burton who beat Burscough tonight to get through for the Man U fixture in the next round of th'fa cup (shame really would have preferred Burscough to have done it rather than Burton but hey..) They won 4-1 in front of a crowd of 4499 people!!! Theyre all a bunch of bloody fair weather part time glory hunting Cammys!! ;)

Re: Grayes can only draw

definitely a Morecambe win please on saturday. Beating Kidderminster would then put us 4 pts clear and allow us the luxury of being to drop points at some stage without Grays knocking us off top spot. A draw would keep them 3pts behind with a far superior goal difference. Its easy to say lets win em all but Kiddy will be tougher than many imagine and Halifax double header over Christmas will not be for the faint hearted I dare say

Best players on the field tonight were Ramsbottom's No 1 and No 5.
A goalkeeper and a great, traditional centre half.

If you'd like to know who Stanley's best player was, I'd tend to go along with Paul Cook. He committed some absolute howlers in defence but performed really well up front ; in fact, he was the Stanley player who most looked like he belonged on a football pitch.

Re: Grayes can only draw

i heard Tretts played the full 90', quality news!
only problem is that Michael Welch is realy starting to gel with our team and play brilliant football, it will be a shame to see him be shut out in January due to Tretton's arrival but hey what are ya gonna do, Coley's never gonna drop golden boy Rocky! not implying that Williams has been playing badly in fact he has had some terrific games, but we all know that Coley is going to keep him in the side no matter what as with Anthony Barry.
rant over.

Re: Grayes can only draw

This was Anthony Barry's worst game to that I've seen to date. He couldn't turn a man, he frequently lost the ball at his feet and he lacked any sort of spatial awareness. In all sincerity I'm bound to ask if he has a problem with playing in a floodlit match ; I'd rather believe that he was unwell on the day.

At the fans forum Coley admitted that he was only signed as a squad player but his form meant he had to be selected. He also said he was due a rest & then he played well against York & Southport I think & Coley left it!

I think he is a very very good player:p

Re: Grayes can only draw

I think he will become a very very good player. Remember, he is only 19 and anchoring the midfield is not normally a job given to someone so young.

Re: Grayes can only draw

Ithink that last night was a poor performance, lucky to get away with a win
As for saying ramsbottom's keeper was good ? i would say he was playing well, for how much abuse he got, but some of his dives were so late, they were just trickling in, when paul cook had a volley from 25 yards out, he did not know what to do, luckily for him, it hit the frame and bounced out
Hopefully, Barrow in the next round :not_ripe: :not_ripe: :not_ripe:

Leave him alone, for God's sake - he's going to be a star. He must be the fittest player in the squad. Rather have him than 3 Brannans.

He may well twinkle in the future but I do not think at the moment that he is good enough to be selected week in week out and on Saturday, without Craney in midfield with him I dread to think what might happen:idunno:

i don't think anyone can say anthony barry did a thing wrong last night?

Re: Grayes can only draw

Anthony Barry is immense! Everyone is entitled to their own opinion but i do how anyone can criticise his performances! I do agree his distribution is sometimes poor but his work ethic and ground covered is a game is massive...

baldy 07-12-2005 14:06

Re: Grayes can only draw

Everyone has thier own opinions but I think the problem with some people on here not mentioning any names they will critize a player when he plays badly which is fair enough but when he plays well they dont mention anything

not trying to be negitive but where are all the people that were calling for coleys head not so long ago??????

shakermaker 07-12-2005 14:36

Re: Grayes can only draw

in my opinion Anthony Barry can be compared to Robbie Williams in the sense that a couple of years ago, Rocky was a young lad with loads of potential; however he was getting in the side every week even after playing a terrible game the week before.
i think Barry will become a great player for us in a couple of years once his game has settled down and he can 1)read the game a lot better and 2)improve his own abilities for his position; ie his distribution of the ball and his positioning.
i know all the Barry-groupies will now say "oh but who will we play instead of him"....
well why not play Jagielka in Barry's role with Matty O'Neill out on the wing - then bring Barry on for the last 20 when he can bring his big quality into our game - HIS FITNESS.

Willie Miller 07-12-2005 14:41

Re: Grayes can only draw

Did you see Matty O'Neill last night? Didn't play well despite having a lot of skill the lad is about 4 rungs below the level Russell Payne played at?

Give Russ a Call b4 Matty!

The attendence at the IES was 290

I can see why everybody feels cooky had a good game but if you watch every player feels obliged to give him the ball and on numerous occasions it mean't the halt of a good attack.

I can only offer my sincerest apologies. No excuses, just very wrong. Total embarrassment. I'd better go into hiding for a month or two, pausing only to visit Specsavers.
