Re: Reason for poor gates?
Surely it would be wiser to 'persuade ' a retailer to promenatly(sp) display Stanley stuff in a successful retail operation rather than open its own store which would (at best in the short term) be a huge drain on the clubs finances.?

Re: Reason for poor gates?
Apologies about disabled facilities - was not aware of new ones at first aid point. BUT - have to say - hubbie says disabled ones near bar are used by all and sundry and seat cracked = so not ideal for disabled child to use. Not our main reason for non attendance and no - not posted on other sites - do not have time.

Re: Reason for poor gates?
Real shame at work (towards Bury), where everybody is now asking me about the poor gates, rather than the great football, thanks for that Eric and John.
As I've said before the club's missed an opportunity to catch a new audience, but it's about perspective. Anybody who's within the catchment area who hasn't seen Stanley isn't interested in football, or is pursuing their own team, to to the exclusion of all others. I used to be able to get people to non league games, partly through novelty, but also it wasn't expensive. £10 for a couple of pints and a game of football, great. These people, in the main, used to go to watch their own chosen teams, and gave up through the cynical attitude of most league clubs towards their supporters, but mainly the cost. I can't get them to come now! Going to football is largely a habit, Stanley rekindled my habit, by being a well run club, whose players give 100%. I think the fan base will grow, but we've had the explosion, it'll be slow and steady from now on. I think the club are trying their best, but a cursory trawl of other League 2 clubs pricing policies show how competitive it is to get people through the gates, we seem to be trying to reinvent the wheel. Sorry, going on a bit now. In an effort to be positive, how about,"Bring a friend for a tenner", leading up to Xmas, obviously standing only, (how you can watch a match sitting down defeats me anyway). |

Re: Reason for poor gates?
Actually I didn’t mind sitting for the period the lads where down field, it give us a rest in between excitement. I have to say almost every soul, young or old, where on their feet as Stanley charged back up the field in the second half. Fantastic stuff.
Anyone notice the increased Steward activity when the lads woke up or better still when a certain Willie Miller was singing “Stand up if you love Stanley” |
Re: Reason for poor gates?
I'm a new fan, moved near Accy recently. I want to know why retirement concessions are only for 65+ people. I'm on the state pension already, being a women, and I'm only 61 - why do i have to pay full price? maybe it's another reason gates are low.
