Does God have a sense of humour?
 

In today's Telegraph in an article about Cowdenbeath (http://www.telegraph.co.uk/sport/mai...9/sfncow09.xml), Robert Phillip asked if the existence of Cowdenbeath - or, indeed, Accrington Stanley or Airdrie United - proved God has a sense of humour or that He believed suffering is good for the soul. Somewhat foolishly, he gave his e-mail address ([email protected]) so that anyone who wanted to make an appropriate comment could do so. Please feel free.

how dare he knock the little leagues ,some of these clubs and their team members play with more skill and passion than the players in the premier league ...plus the supporters follow them because they are proud to do so ..pride and loyalty!!! the guys obviously a man u supporter !!

He's a Partick Thistle supporter and usually refers to them as Partick Thistle Nil

"It just proves you know nothing about football and obviously shows you have either jumped on the Chelsea bandwagon or you are a fair weather Man United fan."

Blessedly, Mike Allen came up with the voice of reason. "You asked if the existence of Accrington Stanley proved that God has a sense of humour. Of course he does! And so do the fans who turn out every week to the Interlink Express Stadium to see John Coleman's team at the top of the Conference and on the verge of a return to the Football League. See you at Swindon next season."

i agree with wot ur sayin but you do get the odd united fan hu shows loyalty so dont tar us all with the same stick! i am proud to say i am a united fan and till the end will continue to be

up the united!!!

Phil he's just saying that a lot of fans of Premier clubs dont show as much passion and pride for their team as fans of lower division teams.
You'll never equal the passion of a Stanley fan with any Premier club fan

How I so agree with you!!

From the age of 11 (in 1956!), I supported Man City, attending all their home games, & many away, until I left Manchester in 1964, to come & work in Accrington.

As I was then working all weekends, I could only support City in spirit, watching closely for their results.

I still hated United, with a fervour that only a fellow 'Manc' can appreciate...(we all know that ManUre's fans come from anywhere but Manchester!)
However, over the intervening years, with only, it seemed, ManUre being on telly, I (almost) came to love them, especialy on the night that Ole Gunnar Whatsisname won them some Euro cup or other (Am I bovvered??)
a few years ago! Must admit, I probably shed a few tears of joy that night!

However, my re-awakening to football matters came about when my Son-in-law told me that Stanley were about to win their league, & gain promotion, of some sort..... I wasn't used to watching at this level!!
Didn't even know what 'Unibond' meant, apart from some sticky stuff that joiners use!
I started to attend games, along with said S-i-Law,his mates, Mr. B & Ian the *anker (got to say, he works for RBS!)

What a revelation!!!

I was hooked!!

In all my years (I am now 60, having watched for almost 50 yrs), I have never seen as much commitment as our guys give, in the course of 90 minutes. Week in, week out, our guys give their all, & we should appreciate this.... I know that I have, in previous posts,had some criticisms to make, but, I hope, it has always been constructive.

I know I may be rambling on here, but, like most of you, I have just finished work for C'mas, & the resulting euphoria may be affecting me!!

Looking forward to next home game, 2nd Jan, (Family commitments stop me going to Halifax, much as I would love to)

See you all there, still Top'o'the League, havi'n a laff!!
