Robbie Elliot

On loan Charlton Athletic goalkeeper Rob Elliot will remain here at Accrington Stanley till the end of the season.

The 19 year old shot stopper joined us at the beginning of December, and is sure to be a key member of the Stanley squad in the second half of the season.

Bit off topic but,

Anthony Elding has been told by his manager Westely he wont play for Stevenage again, do you think he is worth a try? Good striker and can guarantee goals...

Apparently he's in talks with Exeter already.

Re: Robbie Elliot

It's the best news we could have had that Rob Elliot will be with us for the rest of the season.

After the Boxing Day game I was having a drink with a young friend of mine, Matthew Sewell who's a good 24 yr old amateur 'keeper in Halifax.

Matt watched Rob Elliot from the Bus Depot end (oops, sorry, the South Stand) at the Shay and was mightily impressed.

He told me that everything that Rob did, his whole persona, his body language and his command of his territory, was redolent of a particular goalkeeper - Peter Schmeichel. And this from a committed Shayman !

Rob Elliot is surely our key signing to get Stanley back into the League outright. I don't know how it was negotiated or how much it cost to get him, but I'd just like to thank ASFC's Directors and Staff for giving us the finest possible New Year present !

yeah also he has an ace throw on him he could probably get it to the other side of the pitch to set up a counter attack with his arm

That's right, Keyco.

And , believe me it was remarked upon by several Halifax supporters.

Both 'keepers had a good game on Boxing Day, but in the case of Town it was an exceptional performance by their bloke, whereas for Stanley it was just another good day at the office !

Re: Robbie Elliot

Shame about Darren but Im sure he enjoyed his time at Accy and perhaps is a bit envious of Rob!! A valuable addition to the squad. Well done all at the club who were involved in getting his signature right until till the end of the season - its just what the back 4 and the side need - a permanent, regular keeper...

Re: Robbie Elliot

yeah we can thank the club but the only reason we got darren and rob is because of andy dibbles contacts with other clubs
