Midfielder???

lookin at the stanley squad i noticed that the back up midfielders are not good enough if craney or roberts were to get a long term injury we would be in serious trouble so should coleman bring in a midfielder just in case???

Re: Midfielder???

Doubt Grays are in a rush to sell one of their best players to a club like Stanley when they are trying to challenge for to be Champs or have a play-off place.

Coleys looking at a League 1 Midfielder but isnt going to rush into any buy if the players are just gonna play in the reserves or just sit on the bench.

IrishRed 14-01-2006 17:38

Re: Midfielder???

rather than buy a player loan one and then once his loan is finished if hes good then sign him

Whalley Red 14-01-2006 17:48

Re: Midfielder???

Minimum loan period is one month, which would take us beyond the January transfer window so he could't be signed until the summer.

Coley has identified the midfield as the area lacking depth. I'm sure he'll get someone, but players are a lot more expensive at this time of the year than during the summer.

IrishRed 14-01-2006 17:52

Re: Midfielder???

i see your point but if we loan say 2 players till end of season then we can sign them once the loan has finished or put a future fee clause on the loan contract so we could buy them at any time during the loan

Whalley Red 14-01-2006 17:56

Re: Midfielder???

You can only buy them during the transfer window or once the season has finished. There are also restrictions on how many loan signings you can make during a season.

IrishRed 14-01-2006 18:01

Re: Midfielder???

i don't no how many loans you can make but i do know that if you put a future fee clause in the loan contract that you can sign that player for the agreed amount any time during the players time at the club.

Whalley Red 14-01-2006 18:06

Re: Midfielder???

I think that is no longer the case with the universal use of the transfer window this season. Any change in a players' registration from loan to permanent signing can only take place within the specified time periods As far as I know.

The loan restrictions, as I recall, are a maximum of eight short-term loans per season and up to long-term loans in one season, provided they are aged 24 and under.

Re: Midfielder???

im not really bothered bout loan rules or who we buy/loan as long as they provide sufficient cover for our first team........i know johnny said he wont bring any1 in to sit on the bench but i dont see how hes gonna find some1 to push any of our midfield out of the squad
i also have an thought who coley might be lookin at......
ben harding from mk dons hes 19 or summut hes prob about as good as craney

Probably heard about it in school.

IrishRed 14-01-2006 18:36

Re: Midfielder???

no i just think that harding is the only midfielder in league 1 or 2 who can get into our team and in my school theres a rumour of a premiership player who might be comin to us but i think its b***s coz he is a first teamer when hes fit

stanleyfan 14-01-2006 18:38

Re: Midfielder???

is there no rumours bout this midfielder who coley wants to sign and are we lookin for a permenant goalie......otherwise if the worst comes to the worst we may have to play fearon

shakermaker 14-01-2006 19:11

Re: Midfielder???

shakermaker 14-01-2006 19:36

Re: Midfielder???

and you believe that load of crap?
come on; why would a mid 20's Premiership midfielder come to a Conference side. Think about it.

Oh yeah and we have Officer Dibble aswell.

IrishRed 14-01-2006 19:44

Re: Midfielder???

no thats why i sed that its bull i do wanna see a good midfielder but i new from the start of the season that i wanted a mullin replacement

shakermaker 14-01-2006 19:45

Re: Midfielder???

he was our best player by far even in the first 10 games or so when we were pretty awful to be honest.

even the younger players had to catch up on HIS fitness. ok maybe he needs a rest now and again but so far he's doing fine still banging 'em in. long reign mr mullers

IrishRed 14-01-2006 19:51

Re: Midfielder???

im not sayin he hasnt got good fitness but hes not scoring often enough and people say well he can hold the ball up he can head it when hes holdin the ball up 9 times out of 10 he give a free kick and he jumps about 3 seconds to early he lands on the floor when the ball is there to be won he misses really simple chances that brown could score easily i wouldnt sell him but i wouldnt start him either hed be a good back up player

shakermaker 14-01-2006 19:54

Re: Midfielder???

Mullin is a creator of goals not just a clinical finisher. I suggest next time you see a game, note how many balls he plays out to the wings and lays off to the centre mids.

why would we have come to the worst if we play Fearon???

Coley must think he has some potential for taking him down to cambridge earlier this season. do you not think???

have you ever seen Fearon play???

the youth team must have a few promising players with Fearon, Finch and Cross all been involved in the first team this season

so hopefully we can benifit from the new

IrishRed 14-01-2006 20:15

Re: Midfielder???

i have seen fearon play for the youth team he is fair good but he is no were near good enough for the conference coley took him to cambridge cos he had so few options i have no doubt though he will become a good player in 5 years he could be playin for stanley

Elliott, Alcock, Dibble, Fearon.

What more do you want??
We have more keepers (who are all more than capable of Conference football) available than most Championship teams

You really cnt stand mullin can you? He saved us today.I know it was only the FA trophy but, if we had lost, the team would not be as confident as they are now. Losing is a shock to many people agaist a conference south side. I dont think that someone upfrount who is playing for a club who is top of the conference can be as bad as you make paul out to be! He is a class player and i think people forget!

shakermaker 14-01-2006 20:56

Re: Midfielder???

Paul has developed through every stage of non-league football - so he is in fact a very versatile player although he may not look it. He has had to alter his game a lot since playing up there as a lone striker; thus turning provider which can only be a good thing; getting all the team scoring goals form all areas of the park.
Great player.

replace paul mullin? havin a laff or what?

well i dont rate him as much as brown you all do but thats ur opinion

Re: Midfielder???

I'm sorry chuck but if you rate David Brown above Paul Mullin you must need your head testing! Browny cannot hold a candle to Paul Mullin either in fitness, commitment or in any other area of the game - get real!

How can someone ever compare the 2 players. they are totally different players???

MULLIN holds the ball up E.g from a goal kick while players from midfield latch on to hes headers etc

BROWN feeds of players like mullin for the headers and flick-ons etc

so how can you compare these 2 players???

simon 15-01-2006 00:04

Re: Midfielder???

Mullin never ceases to AMAZE me....... His touch is almost beyond human comprehension, some of his flick on's with head, chest, knee or foot is fantastic.... his fitness is getting better all the time.......he is even having a go at this running lark :)

That header at tamworth was a perfect example...... Yes he missis some sitters but hey they all do :(

From the moment the ball leaves our goalies foot watch mullers he runs like a mad man and 90% time gets the ball either flicking on to mangan etc or if they are not up holds it and always gets it to his man...........

Paul is TOP drawer .......end of it
