Scott Bevan

Scott Bevan, Tamworth's goalie, who had a good match against us between starring in their two Stoke games, was injured at Forest Green on Tuesday night. Later, he was admitted to hospital and ended up having a shattered kidney removed. He's now in intensive care. There are details on Tamworth's site: http://www.thelambs.co.uk/news/newsD...D=1&newsID=299.

I'm sure everyone at Accy will wish him a speedy and full recovery and that he's able to be back between the sticks before too long.

Good God, now I remember why I give up playing at an early age. It’s Dangerous. Joking apart, best wishes to Scott and a speedy recovery.

This does raise the question of maintaining a livelihood after receive a long term injury. Do we have a support scheme or benevolent fund for current players or dependents?

Doug, I believe the PFA have some sort of 'pension' if you will, where they keep ex-footballers in and around football after they are unable to play...dont quote me on that though; I just heard it somewhere!

Cheers shakey mate, I was thinking that it must be gut wrenching to have an injury that leads to disability and not been able to participate. Not to mention the loss of lively hood. This something I’d appreciate more information on if anyone as any, specifically in respect of Stanley’s players and specifically in respect of situations arising in the field, not injuries sustained after parting from the club.

There must be something there to keep them in or around football, as when Paul Cook suffered the disability of not being able to play Championship football he managed to find gainful employment. Care in the community fund or something.

Only joking Paul, get well soon

Sorry only joking again
