Stadium Inspection?
Just seen an item about our current success on BBC local news. It wasn't bad - contributions from Eric and Coley, the usual cliches (the milk advert, founder members of the league etc etc), but of course, it's all good publicity. However, one point concerned me - apparently, the ground is being inspected next week to see if it's up to football league standard. Is this just a formality and if there are improvements to be made, will we be able to get them done in time?

Re: Stadium Inspection?
The club has already stated (i am sure) that the ground is up to the standards the league require with the addition of a First Aid room for spectators, a Police room and an extra 3,800 seats, but the latter I believe we have 3 years to get in place. Hopefully we might get better floodlights as well.

Re: Stadium Inspection?
Its inspected regularly... there isn't a problem :)

Good...thanks for putting my mind at rest! :)

Re: Stadium Inspection?
My understanding concurs with that of Kipax.
I'd just like to add that there are three essential things that ASFC will need if promotion is achieved . . . CASH , CASH and MORE CASH ! Of course, the Club would receive certain grants in the event of promotion. Nevertheless, the cost of infrastructure to allow League Two games to proceed at the IES is enormous. For example, I am reliably informed that to establish a police control centre and all the necessary CCTV and associated equipment will cost £220,000. Therefore it's absolutely essential that we all pull our collective fingers out with every fund-raising effort possible, so if you're not a Supporters Club Member already then please JOIN NOW at www.stanleysupporters.co.uk and pay a modest subscription and pledge your future efforts to Accrington Stanley. |
Re: Stadium Inspection?
Henry, is CCTv not already installed on the main stand, so I assume it will just need extending to the other side of the ground, though I do echo your sentiments and will join said supporters club this weekend, see you in the clubhouse Saturday

Re: Stadium Inspection?
It's a very modest fee to join the supporters club.
My badge arrived this morning. I would have paid double that to join as I think a stadium is going to be one of the big issues for Stanley over the next few months. It's going to take a few more people to join in though, we won't build a new stadium on the back of just a few memberships. lol |
Re: Stadium Inspection?
Behave Mrs Knight, although I actually agree with you. I went as far to enrol my son who’s not motivated in the least. Joyce doesn’t know it yet but she’s getting a membership for her birthday in May, I don’t think she’d be too impressed when you consider the grief I got over the scarves and car sticker.
In respect of funding and the further financing of the stadium I would suspect that most of what will be needed is either in situ or at least identified. I don’t think anyone would want to make the financial mistakes of the past; I suspect would include most supporters. I am sure that many people buy programmes on match days or items from the shop not because they want or need them, but because they want to support their club. Obviously we don’t all have money to burn and there are limits to what people can do, but a ticket on the 50/50 draw will bring money in and send at least one bod home with more then they came with, and the odds are better than the lottery. A programme for £2 quid is healthier than fags and paint in the club house will put a smile on most face’s and still help the club. |
Re: Stadium Inspection?
I don't know but I'm pretty sure the running costs of a club like Accrington Stanley are fairly high each week and I'll bet that if they get promoted they'll rise considerably. I once read that most football clubs, even those with high gates are only a couple of weeks from bankruptcy. The cost of improving the amenities will not be small change and right now, every little helps.

Re: Stadium Inspection?
Thanks, Gayle, and Welcome to the Supporters' Club.
We'd love to see you at the next Meeting on Monday February 13th if you could make it. Your enthusiasm and life experience are exactly the attributes which we're seeking. |
Re: Stadium Inspection?
What time and where Henry?
|
Re: Stadium Inspection?
so is the ground up to standard
IMO i`d say no when comparing it to other div3 grounds, i think the side stand would have to go, the shed one |
Re: Stadium Inspection?
Theres only so many ways "there isn't a problem" can be said
Some jobs will need to be done straight away IF we get promoted and more over a couple of years for which you get whopping big grants for. New stand at Clayton end will be first I suspect as 90% in place.. and the club have already stated there will be a new stand to replace the whinney Hill terrace when we get promoted. HTH :) |
