Fantastic response from The Bee shows the Quality of these guys. Thanks to Dan and Adam for staying with it, I’m for one am very grateful.

Nice of Rob Heys to text the Bee and thank them for their efforts which just goes to show the Quality of the Accrington Stanley Establishment.

Come on lads take them down. I’ll sponsor the shirt of the Stanley Player who wins this for us; if it’s already gone I’ll sponsor Andy Tretton’s shirt……….

I listened to the updates and penalty shoot-out on the Bee.

I must say, I'm slightly relieved we've been knocked out. I wouldn't want us to be in a position where we are having to play catch-up on games because of postponements due to the Trophy.

We've got the league to concentrate on winning now. Much more important.:Banane25:

Re: Tonight at worksop

Historically, Worksop have done well against Stanley.

Tonight's result should be no great surprise.

So "Good Luck" to Worksop in the FA trophy and in their ambition to reach the Conference .

Meanwhile, Stanley have bigger fish to fry on Saturday in a match which deserves our total attention and support.

I can't wait !

Dan 08-02-2006 00:16

Re: Tonight at worksop

Well, that was an entertaining evening...

Not necessarily for the football on the pitch, but entertaining nonetheless. I'm with Kipax on the performance. Not great. Over the two legs, I don't think we deserved to progress.

Penalties is always harsh though.

Many thanks to everyone who had good things to say about the coverage. We HAD to extend to 11!!! And Rob Elliot definitely punched the floor in a cartoon baddie style. I assure you.

I know it isn't the same as being there, but hopefully those of you who listened got some benefit. And by the way, constructive criticism is always welcome.

Outback Ozzy 08-02-2006 00:16

Re: Tonight at worksop

having been one of the few who went to worksop tonight, I have to say, the result was a forgone conclusion, Stanley were just not at the races. IMHO too much showboating coz we are top of the Conference, my solution K.I.S.S. or keep it simple stupid. Lets get back to basics. Tonight was a horrible night for weather, wind blowing all over the place, yet we insisted on keeping the ball in the air. It should have been played on the ground and when we did play it on the ground, Ian Craney, Gary Roberts David Brown and Rommy were all loosing the ball. Worksop wanted it more than us and it showed. Good Luck to them in the future rounds. Officials were ******* again, couldn't identify offside if it hit them in the face. and some of the fouls by both sides were a nonsense. Nothing tackles yet it was a foul, didnt allow advantage, which both teams had at one point or another. Still as others have said, lets concentrate on the league, and lets face it, the last time we lost was to Worcester from Conference North in the FA cup and then went on a unbeaten stint of 17 games. Lets hope the same happens after tonight.

Tin Monkey 08-02-2006 07:26

Re: Tonight at worksop

I hope the drop in quality isn't the result of losing Barry in midfield. I wonder what it's done for the morale of the squad?

To be honest I'm not that worried about being knocked out of the Trophy, but the poor performances are a real concern. All this, "let's concentrate on the league" talk, may sound ok now, but what happens if we play like that again on Saturday and Dagenham give us a beating? It's how we bounce back from a couple of poor performances and a defeat that interests me now.

Rubbish - last time we played them we beat them 4-1 and now we are top of the Conference. History does not matter. Last night Stanley were a disgrace. They showed no commitment or effort. If we continue to play like this then we have no chance. That's two games against Worksop and both times we were rubbish. Last night we only scored because Gary Roberts palmed the ball to Craney - it was blatant had ball. Apart from that their keeper didn't have a save to make until the penalty shoot-out when Craney started dancing up to the ball to take his kick and Danny Ventre took two steps and tapped the ball to the keeper. We will have to pick up dramatically to do anything on Saturday, let's hope that this is a wake up call and that they players respond. I think that selling Barry has upset the balance of the team which has had a settled look about it all season. Now we have to chop and change to get the balance back. Not the ideal time of the season to be doing this.

AccyMad 08-02-2006 10:09

Re: Tonight at worksop

I'm not particularly bothered about being out of the Trophy but agree that the poor performance is a worry. Having said that I don't doubt that the lads will bounce back on Saturday and in all honesty we can do without the extra games a longer run in the cup would have meant.

Perhaps the reason Stanley don’t get penalties awarded is that the referees are trying to save our players the embarrassment of missing .

Only ribbing guys! :D
It was hard luck this time but these things happen. Its time now to go onward and upward in the league.

Re: Tonight at worksop

Poor result & if you look back at the result & performance then it'd be easy to say "wish I ain't gone!"

However, there were lots of good things about last night, firstly it was worth the admission money to see Robbie Elliott's blinding save in the second half. Ball blasted at him from close range, he acrobatically jumped & not only saved it but kept hold of it!!!

As a night out, it would be easy again to moan about the small element of Worksop fans who wanted it to "kick off" during extra time, a few swear words that we didn't rise to. However, the amount of kids there was staggering, there must have been 60 or 70 seriously. Smiffy hit by a piece of wood thrown from over the fence :) :p All there just to "mess about" & most let in at half time for free. Three cans thrown at Robbie in the second half by the kids & if you look at WTFC's message board some fans reckon they added to the atmosphere.....? Mmmmm:mad:

Players who had good games, probably Robbie, Danny Ventre, Mullin
Everyone else was awful, slower then normal, pretentious in the way they appraoch the games, full of tricks & flicks but not full of blood & thunder which I believe is what you need for a cup tie

Ian Craney's dance before the penalty summed up the "cocky" attitude that cost us the win

Worksop have some good players mind including the ginger lad up front (Saunders) & Tony Crane (Number 10)....

Atmosphere was awful, although 773 people ain't what we are used to theses days. Accy fans didn't sing throughout the game but gave more than the home team! At least 50 renditions of "We'll drink, a drink, a drink, to Coley the King, the King....." in the second half.

Cold, wet, a long way from home with Town fans celebrating; Still it felt "Good to be from Acc"

Forza Stanley Ultras!

They was like that the second half against us on saturday shouting over 'You the fat one, in the car park at full time' and ' Oi you schoolies your gunna get it at full time, Then we started to chant ' Oh we hate worksop and we hate worksop' the steward went mental saying no abusive chants to the fans just a bit of banter will do!' which i didnt find that abusive at all.
At the bus stop at full time they all walked past the bus stop and started P***ing all over a van. overall they was the worst set of fans that i have seen at stanley this season all though i didnt manage to go to the York and Halifax game as i was working but i heard they was also a nonesense (spelling).

Re: Tonight at worksop

Yeah, but did you notice that it was there van ??? :)
How dopey do you get ? :D
The things they were saying just summed them up, and when they ****ed all over a advertising board, the stewards stood and laughed, and its not like they didnt notice, the were even singing about it
And then, as they all started chanting at us, a few of us gestured, and a steward ran over and said that it is unacceptlble, and that he has had complaints, although we were the only ones in that side of the stand.
All in all, quite glad we dont have that every week, and as for crashing out, maybe it's a good thing, now our total focus can be on the league
