Lancs Cup
Good to see that the lancs cup final has reverted to a one-off game instead of the two leg affair that we've had for a couple of seasons. I know it's being overshadowed by everything else at the moment but we are in the semi final on Tuesday and this could be (I only said could) our last chance to play for it.

Re: Lancs Cup
Anyone know where the final is likely to be held? Or does that depend upon which 2 teams get through to the final?

In Leyland

Re: Lancs Cup
from official site
Tuesday 28th March at the County Ground Leyland The Final of this season's Lancashire FA United Co-op Cup will be held at the LFA's County Ground in Leyland on Tuesday 28th March, kick off 7.45pm. Stanley entertain Southport in the Semi Final next Tuesday 28th February, and in the other Semi Final UniBond First Division side Kendal Town entertain Nationwide North outfit Lancaster City on the same evening. |
Re: Lancs Cup
As it might be the last time we play for it I say lets win it. :)
|
Re: Lancs Cup
and the LFA ground is what? Is it Leyland Motors?
Arden Hall Park has better facilititties. |
Re: Lancs Cup
Does it matter?
This is our last chance at slummin' it! We should make the most of it! Gone are the days when Frickley Athletic were a team to be reckoned with; let's go for it and prove we haven't forgotten our roots amongst all the worldclass footballing supremity that holds us aloft at the top of the Conference. |
Re: Lancs Cup
I would presume the LFA headquarters in leyland will be the venue. Unlike most people on here I have had the priveledge of having taken my footy coaching badge there.
Its a large conferencing centre essentially, with a large astroturf pitch for training sessions, and a large cricket field at the rear. However pride of place and looking like a crown green bowling lawn as you come out of the doors is a beautiful pitch, with stands and a small amount of seating around it. We all asked if we could stand at pitchside and see what it was like and we told in no uncertain terms that if we went on the pitch we would be thrown off the course!!! This was a couple of years ago however but if its to be held here then expect the pitch to be good coz it's treated like the crown jewels!!! |

Re: Lancs Cup
we need to beat southport first!!!
anyone got directions to this place ;) ;) ;) |
Re: Lancs Cup
Leave M6, J28. Left at Junction. Through 2 mini-roundabouts. Left before Commercial Vehicle Museum into LFA Car Park.
I should know - I used to work there! But like you said, I think we need to beat Southport first... |
Re: Lancs Cup
What do think the gate will be?
Given the fact that they played on Saturday and it was a bit on the cold side AND that the weather is forcast to turn colder this wek I think it will be a low turn out. Whats your feeling on this folks. |
Re: Lancs Cup
If its even on tuesday with it set to freeze .. I would say 300 and not much more.. thats only cus we are doing well. historically its a low turn out even for the final.
We had the final here once... Kendal v LeighRMI PICS |
Re: Lancs Cup
Can't see too many being at the game as i guess we both have quite different priorities at present!
I expect both teams will use it as an opportunity to give fringe players a run out, I know Liam has certainly indicated that he might. Who knows, you might see jamie Speare in goal for us! Can't say I'm too impressed with the venue selected for the final and it goes to show the prestige of the lancs cup is diminishing. It's not that long ago the event was held at deepdale, then victory park, then a two legged game and now a ground which isn't even a proper football ground. Bit of a shame for the tournament. |
Re: Lancs Cup
Mellow... Coley and Bell played in the last round... Kinda tells its own story eh :)
|
Re: Lancs Cup
I sometimes wish Liam would name himself as a player, I'm sure he could do better than some of our other lads! He is technically registered as a player (shirt number same as his age - 35).

Re: Lancs Cup
Any idea what the admission charges will be?
|
Re: Lancs Cup
I'm presuming the admission charges will be as normal cos there hasn't been anything on the fishy site saying otherwise

Re: Lancs Cup
Steep for what it is but I suppose a game's a game. Who's coming tomorrow night?
