Milk Ad Lads, where are they?
:) Should we now be asking our media friends to locate the dymanic duo??
Or should we leave them to be our most famous non playing friends! Your thoughts.:) |
Re: Milk Ad Lads, where are they?
Think that would be a fab idea.

Re: Milk Ad Lads, where are they?
You didn't think John Coleman and Jimmy Bell were just random scousers did you?
schoolboy error :) |
Re: Milk Ad Lads, where are they?
I think you should leave well alone. Stanley is its own entity it doesn’t need to be competing with a couple of childhood actors in the media spotlight.
The only media focus should be purely on the Club, its managers, players, their supporters, sponcers and the town of Accrington. Nothing else, it’s the managers and above all else the players who brought Accrington Stanley to the brink of League Football, not a drawl advert that played on past misfortunes of the former club. |

Re: Milk Ad Lads, where are they?
the main lad was called Karl Rice and paid numerous visits to The Crown over the next few years. Can't find any reference to him on the Childrens Ward link though.

ETA: and what a surpise, no entry under that name. Which kinda suggests he's not in acting anymore. He'd at least have cropped up in something otherwise. |
Re: Milk Ad Lads, where are they?
Bring em back !!! Lets hope the club are on the case, this would be great Google Page Ranking.
Give us a green to the champions league :engsmil: Gone mad SR |
Re: Milk Ad Lads, where are they?
One of the fellas was found yesterday on radio one!
|
Re: Milk Ad Lads, where are they?
One of the lads, Carl Rice, was on Radio Lancashire this morning. Apparently he's now performing stand-up in the Manchester area.
On a down note, he's coming to the IES next Saturday for the game against Satanage. ;) |

Re: Milk Ad Lads, where are they?
What is the big problem with the milk ad? OK it makes you cringe when you hear it for the billionth time after people know where you're from - but it's the best piece of publicity EVER done by the club! Look at it - 18 years later and still spinning it's magic, raising awareness of the name of the club!
It can only be a good thing IMO. |

Accrington Stanley was made world famous by defeat, indifference and inaptitude that led to a financial disgrace that brought about it resignation from the Football League. Accrington Stanley was also made world famous by the fact that it wouldn’t die. A line up of dreamers and a succession of wishful men with hearts as big as there pockets worked long and hard to keep a dream alive. <O:p After 44 years a handful of those men and a committed team of professionals brought that infamous period of history to an end. Fame this season was won on the pitch, the future of this club will be fought on the pitch. Accrington Stanley doesn’t need an 18 year advert to herald it arrival to the world, the world was already waiting and in my opinion that bloody advert had nothing to do with, unless of course you believe it won the league as well……:) |
Re: Milk Ad Lads, where are they?
well it has been a poor conference this year apparently.

And here's me thinking they didn't do sarcasm in East Lancs, mind you I've only lived here 22 years. |
Re: Milk Ad Lads, where are they?
Doug, I agree with most of the views you have posted; however my point was not to bask in the advert's glory; merely to not discard it as worthless tat which has nothing to do with the club.
Of course I would much rather see people all over the world recognising us by our terrific history (not to mention the history we are creating as we speak) alone; but let's face it - telly has it's audience, and that audience are bound to regurgitate those now infamous words, "...Exactly". I accept that the advert plays a very small part in the heritage of Accrington Stanley FC, in comparison to our 'rising from the ashes' - but let's not shun the advert, all publicity is good publicity! If it's still getting airplay 18 years on and people want to find the actors that starred in the ad, then let it be! Do you see Chelsea, United or even Real Madrid with an advert that people take that much of an interest in? NOPE! We are a unique club with a unique name - why not 'milk' it? ;) |
Re: Milk Ad Lads, where are they?
Hate it with a vengeance; I don’t dispute what you’re saying Shakey and I enjoy the discourse, like I said it’s a matter of opinion. It was aired again last night on Soccer night and was given more air time than the club although they where discussing the fact that Karl Rice was guess of honour at Hereford. Merit not Milk is my motto. :)
