Your vote for player of the year so far??

Id have to say Elliott or Roberts.

Following on from the goalkeeping turmoil of last season, i think coleman has performed a masterstroke getting Elliott this season, only hope he might stay for next season.

As for Roberts well what can you say?? IMO the best player in the Conference this season.

Paul Mullin or Robbie Elliot for me, both fantastically consistent

Got agree every report has those 2 as outstanding, but Elliot seems to have saved us in the dying minutes so many times.

Re: Your vote for player of the year so far??

Williams and Mullin have yet again proved their brilliant professionalism this season and have been our most consistent players, Rocky perhaps going unsung.
But my vote would go to Leam Richardson; a brilliant signing and the most solid and versatile full back we've had on the left side since the days of Steve Hollis; I think our defence has been our greatest asset this season and Leam is a cornerstone of our unbreakable back-four.

Re: Your vote for player of the year so far??

Only one player in it this year for me.. He has turned defeats into draws and draws into wins by making outstanding saves in every match.. his kicking can be off every game or so but his saves are always magnificent and make the real difference... Elliot by a country mile..

Its a bit early for player of the season even if it is "so far" .. the real player of the season for accy web will be held nearer to the end and have the same format as the last few years :)

Re: Your vote for player of the year so far??

This is a tough one for me, i'm torn between two. Those two being Craney and Roberts... It's gonna have to be ROBERTS for me, the way he has adapted to the conference, coming in from a nowhere league and the impact he has made in his presence and goals is the reason he gets the thumbs up from me.:not_ripe:

John_Timmins 14-03-2006 17:07

Re: Your vote for player of the year so far??

Has to be Robbie Elliot, he has easily won us 13 points this season with his saves so without him i dont know where we woudl be, He makes at least one save which keeps us from conceding in every game some games that we have only won by one goal!

Thought Randolph was good but Robbie just pips him! But got to say we owe a great deal of our form to Charlton Althletic

Great loan deal Coley for this year, Would be one of Stanleys greatest signings if we could get him for another year!

accymel 14-03-2006 17:08

Re: Your vote for player of the year so far??

Bummer hard one  ....I'd say most importantly the back bone of the team is Elliot {GK** although Mullin & Roberts have been fantastic for us goal scoring also Mangan for creating some great opportunities & support to fellow team mates :D

Elliott, no question

Re: Your vote for player of the year so far??

I have to agree, Rob Elliott’s contribution as been exceptional. Whatever the final outcome, every member of the team as made a contribution to our success this season and ultimately all of them are winners.

Mr Elliott for me.

KiTChener 14-03-2006 20:37

Re: Your vote for player of the year so far??

I thought Randolph 'the red loan reigned here' desersve some credit for giving us the foundations of where we are now... but, his mate has surely made the difference from us being 10th again, & where we are now.... so my vote is, obviously with Robb.

(Can't believe I still can't spell 'deserve'!!!)

Re: Your vote for player of the year so far??

I know I havent been to any games this season but the sheer amount of clean sheets we have had this season and all the reports about the guy after every game he gets mentioned as having a stormer makes Robbie Elliott my vote too (so far)... What a signing Coley! Wasnt Andy Dibble a big factor for getting 'in' with Charlton?

Re: Your vote for player of the year so far??

Got to agree with the majority here. Robbie Elliot and Darren Randolph before him. If it wasn't for these two gentlemen, I honestly believe we would not be in the position we are now. OK, we have a line-up of highly talented strikers who, between them, have scored 64 league goals but Grays have scored the same amount and they're 7th with 53 points. That could be us if our team had not been graced by these two highly talented shotstoppers.

Nice one Wynonie, I actually had the temerity to put these two on a Charlton poll for their five best players of the season.

However, rather than go for the Usual Suspects, my vote would go to Phil Edwards. Quiet, versatile, consistent and improving all the time.

The team is the thing though, Coley seems to know what he's doing.

Alan Curbishley for allowing both Darren Randolph and Robbie Elliott to come to Stanley - Curbishley for England - but for player of the year - I would give both keepers a share - it is only fair

Re: Your vote for player of the year so far??

Accrington Stanley FC don't have a club run presentation night, according to someone in the know it's because league teams don't have them now a days.

However it doesn't stop the players, staff and everyone else really, hijacking the Supporters club Presentation night!!!! I personally think this is a fab idea as the club don't actually have do anything they can all just sit back and relax while the supporters club have the benefit of putting on a really good night with all the players there, which raises money for the club aswell.

This years Supporters club presentation night is on the
22nd April
the night of the last home game of the season. It's always a good night so make sure you are there.

Rob has been a kingpin in our progress over the second half of the season. Paul has been a great captain & leader in the absence of Cav but has won for the last three years now. Time for a change & as a former keeper know that recognition at this post is very rare, plus lets hope both Rob & Charlton can see their way to a second season for him at the Interlink.

sorry but wrong.. this would be for the WWW player of the year thats been presented for the last three years and will be presented again this year at the same awards night as official and supporters club awards...

you do NOT have to be a member of the supporters club to vote for this one mate :)

official club awards , supporters club awards and WWW award...all presented on same night... we wont mention the junior awards:)

Re: Your vote for player of the year so far??

Not Elliot due to him not playing enough games but hes been top draw and not taking anything away from him. players that do deserve a mention are Stuart jones, Darren Ranolph & Anthony barry fair play to all 3 of them and all played supperbly in there time at the Crown Ground and of course the best captain in the league Cav not had the best of seasons for one reason or another but still a class act and top bloke. Then theres Edwards??? Welch??? Rocky??? Richardson???? Boco??? Mullers???? all worth there weight in gold and have all been a different class this season but God (Ian Craney) & the Scouse gorgie best (Gary roberts) have been something totally different and most games this season have really been on top of there game. Had call between them 2 but has to be........................ for his goals, assists, crosses and amazing trickery has to be the scouse bestie.

That's a shame Tony, you've done a good job in the past but maybe a few of us could get together and chip in for this year's trophy, I'd be willing to part with a few quid - anyone else?

But me in for £20..........Possibly the most important season since the hardship and indignity of 1962 and we can’t honour one man above the squad that retuned us to the Football League?
<O:p
Irrespective of what happens something fantastic should be done to show our gratitude for what’s been achieved over the last three seasons by some very decent and brave men.<O:p
<O:p
Personally, I’d give it to Eric or one of the Sponsors who have never wavered from returning to us, our pride. <O:p

Player means Player.

I believe that both John Coleman and Jimmy Bell are still registered as players.

After seven years of the "Coleman era" , wouldn't it be nice to see Jimmy receive an honour too ?

Re: Your vote for player of the year so far??

just an idea, but my family used to award a player every year and we always tried to honour someone who wouldn't necessarily receive an award. For example Paul Mullin has swept the board nearly every year and could feasibly do the same this year. So he can't have it.

If we still did the award, then I would award it to both Elliott and Randolph. Before big Dazzer came we were awful in defence with a plethora of makeweights just turning out. After Charlton intervened we had a steaady ship, clean sheets and a confident defence. Elliot saves stand out more because they are more recent, but both keepers have made really top class saves that have defended one goal leads and draws, and usually in the last few minutes when it has really mattered. The rest of the team create and score the goals, but those guys are mainly responsible for where we are now. The speech would go along the lines of "Rob woulda got it but he's only been here a short while. Dazza woulda got it but he didn't Stay now, Stay now, Dazzer if you gotta go away. So we giving it to both of you"

We will likely never see those two again, so it will be bye bye trophy. But it would be good to watch them playing in Champions League games in ten years knowing that we gave them a player of the year award

Re: Your vote for player of the year so far??

Those two goalkeepers who were sent from Charlton to Accrington on an errand of mercy when we were struggling desperately (was it six 'keepers up to that point ?) will be forever remembered in Stanleydom.

Darren Randolph generated such a wonderful burst of affection from all Accringtonians and he left us with a massive smile on our collective face.

But who could possibly have predicted that Mr. Curbishley would have been so generous as to loan us the finest goalkeeper ever to grace the Crown Ground / Interlink Express Stadium ?

I love Jamie Speare , I admire Jon Kennedy beyond words , I rate Danny Alcock, I'm full of admiration for Andy Dibble, I enjoy those marvellous memories of Darren Randolph . . .

. . . but , quite simply , Rob Elliot has made the difference between us being a club who might be contending for the play-offs, or being the league-leaders which we actually are.

zayno14 31-03-2006 06:22

Re: Your vote for player of the year so far??

Also we have to think about the pressure Rob Elliot was to deliver because he knew Darren had done amazingly well here and that he had to match him or better him and full marks to the lad because he has done that...
