Grays AFC In Town

A group of us are in town on the 1st April to see the game, but where should we stay? Manchester would be the better night out, but its a good hour from the stadium, and we can't have a drink at the ground. So do we stay in Bolton, Preston, or Blackburn?

What would you recomment??

Driving or public transport?

If public transport then Blackburn and Burnley are equally the nearest (7 miles ish) but in all honestly wouldn't recommend either. would take the extra half hr or so and go to somewhere like manchester.

If driving you can get to blackpool in 40 minutes.. gotta be a better option for night out and Bed and Breakfast and summat to do next day before setting back. Its about 20 mins or so from the M6 so easy.

Your best bet for a good night out is either Preston or Blackpool, i would recommend Blackpool though, plenty of bars and clubs with decent bed and breakfasts. Plus as Kipax mentioned you have something to do the next day before setting back. Whatever you decide i hope you have a good time up north!!!!!

Not sure but is that offer still on at the pleasure beach day band for 12.50? usually 30 quid... you could make a full weekend of it!

I would choose blackpool over any of the above mentioned!

p.s. There's a nightclub called The Syndicate, got voted best nightclub in the country not so long ago!:not_ripe:

depends on your ages Grays chaps. If you are young and daft then Preston or Blackpool, if you're a bit older and the heavy night bright lights ain't your thing, then stop in Accy. The clubhouse or pubs surrounding will make you more than welcome til late and the town has a good number of friendly pubs.

The travelling army of reds enjoyed our brief visit to Grays and I am sure we would all extend the welcome when you come up here. Just dont expect any points though.

Its not the best but the BIGGEST, however, its currently closed due to naughtiness by bouncers IIRC

Us Essex boys do like a good night out dancing in our tracksuits!!! Seriousley we are all about late 20s so clubbings not essential, but it seems that if we stay local, Preston or Burnley are the best places to go, and if we drive, maybe Blackpool.

Anyone recommend any 'Gentlemans' clubs, if you know what i mean??

If it's clubs you want, we've got a few dozen in Accy & round about. The best known is the Poplar, although you can always try the Pioneer in Church. Most do Bingo, Pies & a turn friday/saturday night, but don't forget to bring your CIU card, because admission policy can vary.
