Next Seasons Team.....

What positions do you think need strengthening. Who realistically do you think we should attempt to sign. And how do you think we will do with this team?

Your thoughts please :)

Right ok I will give my view then.
IMO we should sign:

Goalkeeper (permanent signing)
Center Back
Central Midfielder
Right Midfielder
Striker or 2
Obviously this would depend on who is released etc. But these positions we should be looking to sign some real quality players in.
Tamika Mkandwire (spelling)
Paul Cardon
Mark Rivers
Lambert - Rochdale
And maybe sign a striker from a team in the conference.

With additions like this plus the players currectly in the squad i dont see why we can't be challenging for a play-off place come this time next year :)

After Saturday's performance get rid of them all, what has Eric ever done?

Well if you don't want to discuss then don't reply to the thread. Its pretty simple really. After all, this is a forum which people discuss things on.

The higher the league the better the players are. If your football knowledge isnt good enough to see what areas we should be looking at strengthening and which players you would like to see for next season in order to ensure we will have a good season, then i suggest you dont reply.

I was asking for peoples thoughts on this to see what others think, thats all.
If anyone else would like to reply and answer the thread then it would make for interesting reading IMO, seeing which players people would like to see here next season (realistically) and what positions need strengthening and how well people think we will do in League 2.... WHEN/if we get promoted.

FC. :D

We have 6 games of this season to go and we are on the brink of a promotion to the football league.. Players and management read this board.. and quite a lot of people here are on first name terms with some or most of them..

Why would anyone want to insult an history making team by listing replacements at this stage..

Thats why no one is taking you on. Its an insult to the players.

Re: Next Seasons Team.....

How is it an insult, im not asking which players arent good enough or need releasing. All im saying is who would you like to see. Im sure all the players know that a bigger squad will be needed next year, hence why i said which positions need strenthening. Not what positions need replacing.
The players this season have been fantastic and every stanley fan is proud of them.
Discussing which players you would like to see for next season is not insulting current players.

FC. :)

Crikey, the lad has made a sensible post and he's getting ripped up for it!!! Its not insulting to the players to discuss their positions at all, its perfectly normal. Maybe if you are a good friend of one of them and then you say he should be sold on that may be a little odd but for the rest of us who aren't all bezzie mates with them they are just assets, pieces of meat!!!

I think FC has it pretty much spot on in his assesment. We could deffo use a centre half, an experienced player with some added class IMO.

The centre midfield I think will look light next year so again I would say we need somebody in there. We need someone to replace the grit that we lost when Anthony Barry departed so that Craney can bomb on safe in the knowledge that his partner will do the dirty work.

On the right yes we could probably use a player. Im a big fan of Jags but the squad is wafer thin just now so we deffo need some numbers if nothing else.

Up front I personally think one player would suffice. Brown will cope at League 2 im sure and I have a greta deal of hope for Mangan. I stand by my assesment of him...'the non league Pippo Inzaghi'!!! Mullers looks as good as ever but what I would really like to see is a player of genuine class added. Im thinking someone who can do both jobs, hold the ball up AND weigh in with goals.

I saw a player who impressed me at IES this season but I cant remember which team he plays for. Steve Burton he was called. Looked a cut above to me. If he's attainable I say get the ****** signed!!

Re: Next Seasons Team.....

sign ricky lambert from dale? NO way..I've seen him play a few times i doubt they would sell but i don't want him..give me mullin mangy browny and boco..Lambert sits on his todd upfront and does nothing, lazy as they come...TO be fair he scores his fair share but ask any dale fans..Free kicks and penalties make up the majority of his tally..
