Illegible Player

The Non-League Paper this morning states that Stanley have been charged by the FA for playing an ineligible player for the reserves and could be deducted points. The player in question said that he had played for Crewe but had in fact been playing in Iceland and Stanley did not get International clearance for him. Hopefully it will only lead to a fine at the most.

Re: Illegible Player

But as it was Robinson who played for the reserves then any points would be off them and not the first team.. Also he lied saying he had played for one club while having played for another.

I dont think the club will be worried about points as A) it prob wouldnt happen B) it would be the reserves and C) a fine would be the bigger punishment for Eric .

Perhaps it meant that they couldn't read his name on the registration form? ;)

If it is the Club that is being charged by the FA for playing an INELIGIBLE player the punishment goes against the Club. It is not the reserves league that has charged the club it is the FA so any points deduction would come off the first team, but I agree it probably won't come to that.

Re: Illegible Player

Is it only me that finds it odd. a player plays in the reserves but points docked in league?

Anyways by all accounts the worse you can get is if he played a league game then the amount of points you won are docked...

As we say... The chances of points being docked are less than slim.. The NLP are doing an accy observer job on it and blowing it out of proportion.

I agree with Kipax, the NLP treatment is outrageous. I walked into someone in the newsagent's as I was reading the story, I was so shocked; but it actually boils down to nothing. The worst kind of tabloid journalism, which is disappointing from a paper which is so closely linked with non-league football.

Keep Coley away from the Leeds-Liverpool, though, just to be on the safe side...

Re: Illegible Player

even the FA arent so daft as to dock points from first team for a player who played two games for the reserves.
the NLP story and headline are poor to say the least....someone working there would appear to be after a job with NOTW:D

Obviously reported by some jealous Alty official or supporter, considering he went on to play for them prior to going to Oz. But what puzzles me is he stated he had played for Crewe prior to Stanley - why lie? What could he possibly gain out of this, or is something more sinister afoot? I too saw the banner headline and was at first shocked, then worried, my immediate thought was is everyone against us going up. BTW would they take the points off next seasons league games which they did as they did with Boston (I think) or this seasons? Anyway's after reading Kipax's posts and others as well I feel somewhat relieved. Nice to see the Conference support us on this one though!

At least it gave Parkabull something to have one of his rants about on the confguide forum - no change there then!

Is that meant to be a serious remark? Our club were faced with the possibilty of being hit with a large points deduction due to your club not registering his international clearance, and the first anyone knew of this was when the FA contacted our club, so why/how the hell would anyone connected with Altrincham bring the issue to light? The whole sorry mess has been brought about because bottom line international clearance was never sought. I like every other Alty fan hopes this episode doesnt result in any punishment for you.We have been exonorated of any wrong doing by the FA,and we all hope that will be the case for you aswell.

Its bit out of order to throw around comments like the above, especially when its clear, you really havent a clue waht your talking about.

Re: Illegible Player

Reckon he lied because he knew he needed international clearance to come back and play in the UK as he'd have had to go through the process to play in Iceland in the first place. Unless he's Icelandic and his real name is Járnskeggi Robinsson and he sounded like scouser with a sore throat.

Wonder what would have happened if he'd impressed enough to get a contract..... "Oh, by the way I think I need international clearance before I can play in the first team because when I told you I played for Crewe I meant to say Knattspyrnufélag Akureyrarith"

Re: Illegible Player

It clearly isn't Alty or any of their supporters fault regarding this as far as I have heard the facts. What does surprise me is the way people on here seem to be certain we'll emerge with a piffling punishment from the wise and wonderful FA - an organisation not generally known for the application of common sense in matters under its jurisdiction and associated with a certain Wembley project.
