Re: New Kit

It's the first i've heard of it! Is there an official statemen been made about it?

If so when and by who?

sparkie 16-04-2006 14:45

Re: New Kit

no official statement has been made. And Nike didn't pull the plug. Basically nike make millions of kits and when you just want to place small orders then they aren't really accomodating (Iknow this from experience) and judging by this seasons first team shirt they are going for style over quality instead of a good mix of the two. They are awful.

I can't say anymore or will be shot!!!!

smudgie 16-04-2006 14:47

Re: New Kit

personally i think the shirts this season have been the best for a long time

KIPAX 16-04-2006 15:53

Re: New Kit

as sparkie said... nike didnt pull the plug... why say they did?

more like stanley dropped nike.... also how are they the shirt sponsors?

Re: New Kit

Yes there will be a new kit coming out as I asked at the club shop on Friday and she inform that there will be a new kit soon...for the start of the new season

Re: New Kit

I'm not questioning the design of this years red shirt, only the quality of it. it's awful, very flimsy and woe betide if you get velcro anywhere near it, it plucks like buggery!!!

The design is very nice but I kinda wish i hadn't bought mine as i'm constantly worried about ruining it!

However my legs will be broken if i divulge the new kit makers!!!!

I was aware of the suggested change via the Supporters Club two or three months back but felt it wasn’t for me to discus the issue further. Maybe now we’re a League Club once again (Thank you Stanley) we could get an official Newsletter going for our away supporters, or better still an online monthly update on the official site.

At the Supporters' Club Meeting of Feb 13th , with 22 Members present , I asked the three Directors who were present why our Dublin Branch Members (amongst others) were experiencing difficulties in obtaining shirts.

We received a full and frank explanation which , it was then felt , was a little too full and frank.
The Directors asked us not to divulge certain parts of the information and, like responsible adults , we agreed.

It's all too easy to gain cheap points by going around saying " I know a secret and I'm not gonna tell you it , nah nah na nah nah - oh, alright then, I will".

The Supporters' Club retains the confidence of ASFC because , when asked to keep something quiet , it does.

And that's why Supporters' Club Members often find out what's happening rather earlier than some others.

I empathise, TM.

If only football could have continued without advertising, sponsorship, replica kits etc.

Personally, I blame that Jimmy Hill for making players expect more than £20 a week .

I think the stewards should be kept away from the team as they come out of the changing rooms, especialy those rubbing them up and down with velcro.:D

I never thought you were Jimbo .

It was just an explanation of why we've been quiet on the matter.

As far as I'm aware it hasn't even been mentioned on the Supporters' Club forum , either.

If the Club's Directors ask us not to broadcast confidential information then we respect that request.

Happy Easter !

Re: New Kit

Are the kits gonna be sold just at the shop & Ossie Mills again like this season or can we expect a wider local retail outlet to get the replica shirt???

I think the more widley available & handier to get hold of an outlet the better for people to buy the shirt/kit as it is with other club shirts. I missed out on getting a shirt this year because they had sold out at christmas at the clubshop & can be ballache to keep going there or ossie mills certainly without transport plus when ive been at the match they haven't had my size, least town is more accessible to all locals.

Just a thought

sparkie 18-04-2006 12:33

Re: New Kit

jase it would be a miracle if you were to observe any rank or structure ever!!!

Its got nothing to do with the supporters club, the point being made was that as members of the supporters club who attended the meeting in question we were given a piece of 'priveledged' information and asked to respect the wishes of the club regarding it, so we did.

I've known for the best part of 2 months who the new kit was gonna be made by, and as recently as saturday night i was asked not to say anything. I respected the the clubs wishes. Something that you don't appear to understand.

The club does have an outlet in the Fraser Eagle shop on Blackburn Road in town

sparkie 18-04-2006 12:36

Re: New Kit

that problem of not having stock of the shirts at christmas, and not having your size in the club shop has nothing to do with the clubs outlets and shops and everything to do with the manufacterers supply. Put 2 and 2 together please and see what you get.......

A new kit manufacturer!!!!

No smilies (Oh dear!)

Just having a sly little dig at the "I knew before you" culture. Hence the smilie:p People should relax a bit more, we ain't discussing world peace or a cure for cancer

As Loweiy always says as long as we all do our bit for Stanley then who cares whether its official Supporters Club business or not

I know I try;) Maybe I should take in one of these meetings again;if thats how you get "special info". If you want rank & structure, can I be a sargent?:)

Why were you asked not to say anything as recently as Saturday night - polo shirts with Sturridge on them were on sale in the club shop last week. Seems strange to me. If it's so secret and there's going to be an unveiling why tell some people and then tell them not to pass on the information. Surely the person who told in the first place was in the wrong, he was probably told not to tell anybody but just did anyway.

You can accuse me of anything you like except for one thing . . . discourtesy. I have spent my life observing that "manners maketh the man".

Just dug out my old "Red Rose Assurance" Pro-Star strip. Absolute quality. You could put it through a shredder and it'd still be more durable then the ones we have nowadays. What we need is the ultimate strip......Pro-Star with Hollands on the front.
