Next Match Poster

Whats your thoughts on having a poster A4 size with details of the next game that can be downloaded and printed off for people to display in their cars, places of work, pubs, shops etc.
Will be good for getting the gate figures up next season.
I'm willing to do this every week and upload it
It doesn't want to be graphic heavy but what would you like to see on it if it is done?
Look forward to seeing your reply's

Edit - A quick Google found THIS ONE

I think it would be a start. Ive heard asked before but never heard an answer so I ask again...can the club not get something BIG on the side of the pub or that house next to it??

Im thinking the type of thing Burnley have, it would definitely get seen by a lot of people and im sure would bring in some new punters.

We need a bigger Club House or another very long bar so we can more punters in. Getting to the bar is becoming a little disconcerting, the guy behind me on Saturday had a bloody big smile on his face and I weren’t happy. I though he was after me wallet…..

Nice idea though. I think that we should spend the closed season selling the essence of Accrington Stanley to the locals. Too few shops and businesses demonstrated there commitment. More bodies will fill our town next season local business should be looking to keep them around after the game spending the least they could do is give over some window space and display a poster for their own, as well as the clubs benefit.
<O:p
There are more pubs on Whalley Road than you can shake a stick at, this summer I would love to see Accrington Stanley written large across all the frontages i.e. <?xml:namespace prefix = st1 ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com<st1:address w:st=" /><st1:City w:st="on">Stanley </st1:City></ST1:pflags and scarf’s fluttering on the breeze and a warm wet welcome to our league two opposition.

I don't see any reason why not. If the club is happy to back the idea and allow use of the crest I would stick a couple in the rear windows of the car the day before the game and then for the transit down the motorways home.....:)

I would love an England flag with the Accrington Stanley Crest in the centre or the top inner corner. Anyone know of anyone who can produce them? :)

the posters are available form the officail site for all home games the appear on the fixtures page..but as we have no home games left there are no more for this year! so dont really think there is a need for you to make another set KSH....but good idea and keep an eye out for them next season :)

KIPAX 26-04-2006 07:14

Re: Next Match Poster

Why do I get the feeling no one believes me?

Posters for the next home game have been available from the official website... Either on the fixture list or from the opposition club information section... Clear as day a link saying POSTER... I dont know how confusing that was..

The reason you can't see them now is because as mister timmins quite rightly points out.. there no home games left.

These posters where automatically generated.. using the info from the database and the club logo... the link only appeared for home games and quite rightly dissapeared after the game had been played.. all this from a script I wrote.

Just because you can't see them now doesn't mean they never existed :)

OK SO....As its all computer generated then it has its limitations... graphics, extra info and pow! :) if KSH wants to provide posters for each match next season and they contain more than logo and standard info.. if they have that little bit more as I suspect they will then get in touch with the man that counts... ie me :) I wil sort out your own upload and editor system for the official website so you can have full control of that... I will kill off the magic script and the advert for the poster will point to your uploaded file.

If ya want to join our merry band of website workers ... Get in touch and show me an example poster :)

I dont think it was a case of no one believing you matey - its just ironic that someone asked this question after the last home game when theyve been there all season isnt it!! :D The law of the sod I believe!

PS. Do you want maps doing for the new teams for next season mate? If so, are they going to be used this time? :) I did some at the beginning of this season for the teams that came down and up into the Conference but they never materialised... eg. Kidderminster, Altrincham et al... oh unless my ad blocker is not showing them ... but I can see others so I think Im right ;)

It should be available for download for every game next season from a link on the fishy site.

I dont know yet if the download link will allow a choice of images or not, if it does I plan on doing a smaller version as some think A4 is a bit too big and some shops etc will not allow it to be put up. "If " there is a choice, I will upload it to save anyone having to mess about re-sizing it themselves, the smaller one will be approx 7" X 5" (2 images on an A4 sheet)

Might be a good idea, I have done 100 large and about 75 of the smaller ones so that gives you around 250 to hand out.
Someone did mention about printing costs, I have done 175 sheets (approx) most used was red and black and both of these are still about three quarters full and they had slight use before I started printing the posters.

Its being displayed exactly the same size you upload it.. ie 576 x 768 or somehting like that... thus it will only print to that.. If you want to print it A4 or smaller then you need to make it that size ... guesswork this of course.... ..

Hmmm, I just uploaded a test print to the Blackpool game (says burnley but i'll delete it later) and thats 3000 x 2100 pixels and that prints exactly the same size, anyone any idea whats going on here - gonna have to work more in these pixels to get used to their ways, I only work in inches :-) if I want a print 10" x 8" thats what I set it too !!

I`m no expert but isnt the print quality worked in Pixels per inch, so even if you increase the amount of pixels the picture will still be the same size just better quality.

well yeah and no, you can set an image size ie length X width in pixels
take my image for example thats (was) 792 pixels high, i want it to print at 72dpi so 792 / 72 gives you an image height of 11.
But it wasn't working that way for some reason, I tried again at 1000 pixels and it was OK in Firefox but cut an inch off in IE, now set at 900 and seems to be Ok in both, gives you a print of approx 9X6 which I'm happy with - anyone willing to test them for me?
PS - in Firefox you have to click the image to get to the full size one or it will only print approx 6" high

It will print Ok as a poster, its not photo quality as its only 72dpi, I wanted to see if it printed at the right size straight from the browser (IE and Firefox), if you save it to PC it should print A4 size

Re: Next Match Poster

A4 in pixels is 2480x3508

Thanks KSH - next 3 home match posters printed and in the car - for those who aren't sure how to resize - I changed the margin sizes to 1" all round and custom sized to 155 which worked for me. Prints just slightly smaller than A4 size.

All home fixture posters for this season are now available on the fishy site.
At the min they all contain the same image but I will be updating them as I get new images and if there are any fixture changes.
Just got the Notts Forest one to do - thinking of doing a different one for this cup tie - any suggestions welcome.
I got 3 up at work for the Burnley friendly and just printed one out to put in the car - have you got yours?
That reminds me - new car and no Accy Stanley sticker in yet, must nip to the club shop one day

Nice poster, but it needs an amend - "your" should be "you're".

OK, well, not the end of the world. I noticed it because I'm paid to check stuff like that. If you ever want any posters proofreading, just let me know.

I'm after some slogans to put on the posters if anyone has any ideas, don't want the "it's taken 44 years" etc to be on all the posters, could do with a change now and then

Re: Next Match Poster

Player graphics updated upto the Wycombe game, Mullin and Boco now have the Fraser eagle logo (didn't like the Fifa one), not happy with the Boco one though, excellent celebration shot but the shirt prints too dark now for some reason, looks Ok on my PC  but sure our Mr K will have plenty of opportunities to get some good ones against Rochdale :)
"Family ticket" also added upto the Wycombe game
