Re: Poker Night 2!!
Cheer's Pete. I think I’ll like this game, I did watch it on the box last night but I’ll need to play it to understand it properly. I notice that they do Gaming Sets. Can anyone recommend a good one that I can use to practice with against the family, happy to spend between 20 – 50 quid for a good one, better still if one comes with CD or DVD.
|
Re: Poker Night 2!!
there are quite a few dvd interactive game versions about, argos do a good selection of different sets but you need to get a set with a dealer button and big and small blind buttons, also one with a 'green baise' table mat makes it feel more authentic!!! The ones we used for the poker night weren't that expensive you sould be able to pick a similar one up for around £10.
Also to note you are aloud silly hats and glasses and mascots and things aswell!!! |
Re: Poker Night 2!!
Cheer's Sparky I'll take a look.
|
Re: Poker Night 2!!
how about extending the theme and having a casino night some time?
I have never understood cards and am not about to try, but spending all night around a craps table or on the roulette wheel would be more appealing. Would probably draw more punters and spectators than just a card game. |
Re: Poker Night 2!!
Sounds a good idea MWAG

Re: Poker Night 2!!

Re: Poker Night 2!!
Good suggestion from Macca. there making it a casino night,
Someone was telling me the other week that there is a company that runs them. Apperently about a thousand pounds to do it, (100 people x ten pounds to cover cost) you buy fake money to gamble with, have auction at end of night of anygoods you can scrounge from whatever companies, can only bid with fake money however can still by more if you want to bid. Put on spud pie supper available to buy as well to make extra. |
Re: Poker Night 2!!
The sugestion of making it a 'casino' night is a good one, however the costs etc are high and the whole idea is to make money for ASFC.
I think we would struggle to get 100 people to a casino night and even if we managed that we would only be able to cover our costs therefore negating any fundraising oportunities. Upto press there are 22 players attending the poker night, and even with the prize money taken off we are making £120 for the club, as this is going to be a monthly night, assuming that everyone returns each month, that would mean £1340 bieng donated to the club. Granted not everyone will be able to or indeed wish to attend every month, however the first event only attracted 12 players and already we are on the way to filling this months, I dont see too much difficulty in filling seats in the coming months! Please dont think I am dismissing Maccas idea, far from it, its just that the initial outlay would be very high with no guarantee of recouping it, that said I will hapilly mention it at the next supporters club meeting and see what the general feeling is. In the meantime how about you join us on the 30th Macca/Borderman,who knows you might even win..............:) |

Sorry Ukcowboy can't make it on the 30Th other plans prevail. I know the cost is high, you would need to attract business people to fill spaces(asfc sponsors? perhaps), A tenner a head is not really that steep of an entrance fee in this day and age, but obviosly you would need at least 100 to cover the initial outlay. I accept all your comments and agree with you entirely, please by all means bring it up at next sup/club meeting however from past experience the chairman and Mr Heap will not even consider it. |
Re: Poker Night 2!!
lol my man I understand where you are coming from!! I think though you may have given me an idea with your comment about 'sposorship'.............not promising anything but leave it with me.

Re: Poker Night 2!!
I'll play
I'll lose but I'll play!:D |
Re: Poker Night 2!!
could easily set up the casino night even using one of the smaller versions which are available in the shops of things like roulette
