Mick Schultz (ASFC Safety officer) has just shown me a letter from his counterpart at Kidderminster who praises the aprox 250 stanley fans for there behaviour and friendliness. Not one single cause for concern or problem.

So pat on back time everyone :)

We popped into The Harrier Arms after the game for a quick pint and all the Kiddy fans were wishing us luck for next season, i thought they were a great bunch of fans themselves, just how football fans should be towards each other, a bit of a crack during the game then leave it at that.

We got the same treatment on the way to and from the ground and were utterly gobsmacked! Would definitely go back to the Kiddy ground just for the Snack Bar (when Kiddy get promoted, of course ;) ).

Yeah, the snack bar was something to behold! The choice was fantastic and made a change from cold pies, etc.

The people who provide the burnt burgers and boiled sausages should hang their heads in shame.

Do you think that Mick would have received a similar letter if Kidderminster had lost , though ?
Cynical ? Moi ? ;)

Nevertheless, I came to support Non-League Football for the very qualities of camaraderie and mutual respect which you've just reported, Kipax.

I sincerely hope that, despite Stanley's elevation to League Two, we'll be able to retain those qualities and promote them at every possible opportunity.

As I've already pointed out, that's completely false and I've told you why.

If you don't understand what I've said then please think it through again.

You attach an enormous importance to the timeline and make assumptions based on it, just like another person on this thread.

I object very strongly to being accused of dishonesty in my postings and I don't like the way that you have manipulated this situation.

At last ! You've got it !

When I'm busy composing a reply or an edit or anything else on this or any other site , as I said but you didn't understand , I'm not very much interested in how things are proceeding elsewhere in the ether .
As a professional writer of many years , I focus entirely on what I'm doing.

In other words, just because a post is present on the thread involved , this does not mean that another poster is reading it while otherwise occupied.

Just one further point , if I may , I seem to remember that only recently a certain Member of this forum blurted out the results of a Supporters' Club vote - only to try to cover his slimy tracks later.

I sincerely hope that this reply is sufficiently long and condescending [please note correct spelling] for your collaborators and yourself.

Whoa hang on there jase, there was nothing secret about the suporters club voting, it was posted on here that if you were a paid up member of the supporters club (are you jase?) then you could vote through the supporters club website or on the night of the last supporters club meeting. how is that a secret event?

As for the award itself it is a supporters club supporter of the year trophy which last year was opened up to all supporters for them to be nominated and for voting, however due to certain people trying to use their position with the football club to coerse people to vote for them, (and I will not name names) it was decided that this year it would go back to the way it was previous to last year where you had to be a member of the supporters club and an active helper to the football club or in the fundraising efforts of the supporters club, for the football club. The person who won fills those criteria admirably.

It was also decided that this year the trophy should be a unisex award instead of 2 seperate awards for male and female. So there is now a new trophy.

Oh and by the way jase we asked for your trophy back over 2 months ago, so that it can go in the cabinet in the sports bar, any danger of that actually happening?

All the aim of the supporters club is, is to raise money for the football club, it's not about personal awards but about recognition for those who do their damndest to help. We may not make a lot of noise at games or paint the town red but we support the club all the same, just in a different way to you.

If you wanna pick on the supporters club then fine, but get your facts straight. Or even better pay your £5 yearly subscription, come to a few meetings (second monday of every month 7pm in the sports bar) and have your say, it might not be your idea of a great night out but every penny put over the bar goes to the club and you might actually take part in something worthwhile for everybody involved at the football club.

Next meeting is this monday the 8th of may, you can make yourself a member on the night.

Perhaps you should mention that at the next meeting :(

I am not saying that doesnt happen.. some things of late have picked up.. not least the poker nights... lots of people put lots of effort into fund raising on behalf of the supporters club .. we know that.. no one can complain, moan or say anything dissrespectfull about that

but certain people have had another agenda and that is to use the supporters club to put pressure on the club in other areas and speak for the fans... that IMHO is well out of order and is certainly not the place of the supporters club who as you rightly say is there to make money for the club.. thats there only agenda.. thats the only thing they are in place for.. nothing else.. as far as I know thats never been changed and the only time it was tried.. it was shot down in flames at a meeting.

the supporters club needs a good shake up.. I know it.. you know it.. everyone knows it... just no one has the balls to say it in public.. shake it up.. be more tranparent.. more people will join and more important.. will be active..

JUST MY OPINION MIND :)

Erm No

I've attended the meetings, you know I have.... I sat through nearly half an hour of "shall we have £10 or £20 for Xmas decorations!". Sorry, its not my scene. I admire all the members & the poker nights are superb, we just need more of that. We also need less of the OSC talking for the majority when clearly, if you look how many voted, you are not!

We all red & I admit we all support differently. But don't get on your high horse, it doesn't suit you!

what "position" is that? I know who I voted for last year and one of them won and 1 didn’t, and about 3 or 4 of them come up to me saying "vote for me", what vote does this not happen in??? its hardly cheating .

I am not a member of the supporters club simply because I have never been asked, its not that I don’t support what the OSC are doing its how they are doing it and that’s why I will happily spend my fiver (and lots more) over the bar and encourage none Stanley fans to attend games at every opportunity because in my opinion that’s the best way to raise money for the club, you might not be able to put your name to it but concentrating efforts to drive up attendances will make a lot more money for the club in the long run (again in my opinion). :)

That said, id still like to say cheers to everyone who put the effort in for the supporters club doo because I did attend and have a good time.

Re: Praise from Kidderminster - Official

A revolution cannot take place over night here it needs time effort and people willing to put in that time and effort that don't already, both jase and kipax have attended meetings in the past but attending 1 meeting in maybe the past 12 months is not enough, if you want the supporters club to change from the perceived veiw of the 'old mans gassing shop' then come and give us a hand coz you ain't alone.

I hate the perception that people have about the supporters club but it isn't gonna change if nobody's willing to come and help change it. And yes I'll freely admit that meetings can be sometimes tedious but thats what we want to change and 3 people, two of whom have breasts, which seems to be a serious impediment, are not going to make a big enough difference.

On average as far as fundraising events go it all gets handed down to around three people to do all the work, sure plenty of folk volunteer to help but very few actually get involved.

But what gets on my tits more than anything else is people who don't take an active part, running the name of the supporters club into the ground. If these people were active members then they would be entitled to have their greiveances, their say and ultimately a chance to suggest a way forward.

It's not the supporters club versus the ultras, never has been, they are two separate groups formed for two different reasons but both to help the club in their own ways.

Oh and boggles, its not up to a supporters club member to ambush you into joining the supporters club, the secratary of the supporters club is in the sports bar taking membership before, during half time and after most games, dont tell me you dont go into the bar!!!

Oh and when the roof over the claton end does go up just remember that the supporters club has helped to pay for the facilities afforded to supporters, like loos etc.

Im saying ive never been asked to join and theres not much going on there which would make me want to get up and spend a fiver on for the right to sit in these meetings and argue trivial issues, im sorry its not for me.

If someone asks me for help with an event or something similar i will help if i can, like i proved at last years carnival as one example.

In terms of volunteering my time, which is precious, I'll devote it to things that interest me. I play football for Accy Stanley fans team, I organise terrace displays, recruit away travellers, give leaflets out in town, organise banners showing stanley are at home, I've done playstation nights, run the coach with Cammy, bought 3 season tickets, spend hundreds in the bar, on programmes, bought a reserved car park ticket, this year bought at least 3 shirts, 2 scarves etc etc. I do enough, me thinks!

But if it needs attendance at a meeting & £5 a year subs to be a real fan, count me in......

Jase it's not your fault, but you still don't get it, i'm not ridiculing what you do, I'm saying don't ridicule what we do if you know very little about it. We don't profess to speak for the fans, unlike you who seems to think its your natural cause. I don't remember ever speaking for all the fans, thats a lot of people to speak for and quite frankly I have enough to say on my own!!!

Its not about who does what, But if you want to get personal, about what you do and what i do here goes:-

I steward on match days for around 4 and a half hours for nothing.
I baby sit the children of people who couldn't care less about where their kids are or what they are doing on match days for nothing but a load of abuse!!
I give up around 20 hours a month to stewarding other football games at the interlink for nothing
Before becoming a steward I had a season ticket
18 years worth of admission fees proir to holding a season ticket
I give up around 12 hours a month to the supporters club
I give up around 8 hrs a month to part organise the poker night with my husband
I have given leaflets out in town
I have spent a lot of money in the club shop
I help out behind the bar
I put money over the bar the same as you do
I help clean the stadium during the summer

I could go on.

A fiver a year doesn't make you a real fan, going to blyth spartans on a tuesday night in the piddling down rain does!!!
Wearing your shirt with pride even when people take the mick out of it does!!!
Watching your team lose and not stopping singing until you have no voice left that makes you a real fan.

And that puts both of us in the same catagory. not ultras, not supporters club, REAL FANS.

I suppose we'll just have to agree to disagree.

Agree with Sparks Mr Miller. We all pull for the same cause. We all have differing views on how it should be done. We all have skills that can be put to use for the greater good. We all have the right to organise ourselves in the manner that we see fit as being best for our kind. If there is a better way of doing things then lets do it. But lets not forget the efforts of the OSC and where we can we should encourage them and help them. Likewise, they can offer us help as and when and if we ask for it.

If the revolution does not come to us maybe we should run a coach to it. Cammy?

I think youre right mate - I was there for a good 5 mins after kickoff chatting to someone on the sidelines as well - if I remember rightly the grub in Blythe's ground was great - chicken curry n chips or chicken sweet n sour n chips and stuff like that :D Who could resist that after a few prematch Guinesses ?? :D So getting back to the topic, does this make me a REAL fan then? ;)

I don't think so. You lack certain credentials to be a REAL fan. ;)

I'm not a real fan. I'm just waiting until Bacup Borough get to the Conference and then I can support them.

Ha ha. well done guys. I'm not on that photo either, I was behind the goal infront of jeff heap further down.

Being a real fan is not the issue, that comment just stuck in my craw a little.

At the end of the day we all want what is best for the football club and no amount of created imaginary politics will change that, OSC members join coz they want to help that way, ultras follow coz they want to help their way.

ITS ALL GOOD PEOPLE!!!! ONWARDS AND UPWARD!!!

Now Now Kipax! What did you say about my photo of you at Hereford last year???? Prefer the back of the lens don't you LOL.
To the original post & ignoring the in house bickering after the flack from York caused by outside muppets as we all knew, it is good to see a fellow club acknowledge that us Stanley fans know how to behave at games, we are a family oriented club & hope we continue that way into the league, have a laugh & banter during the game & a pint with the travelling fans after as grass roots football should be. No matter how you support the club, time, contributions, flags, gate fees & season tickets etc ensuring the progress & honour of the club & showing the players, who have the privelege of representing us on the pitch, that we want them to do their best, is the most important thing that matters.
