Your Traini9ng Ground

Hi:

Can I just check something out?

My lad's coming on trial in a couple of weeks, and has been asked to report to the Rolls Royce Sports Ground, Barnoldswick.

We went today to have a look - it's on the Skipton Road, with a little road called Gyll Lane at the side of it, yes? He doesn't want to go to the wrong place!

Thanks

I couldn't say for definite, but as Barnoldswick is not a large town, there's a fair chance that's the right place. Unless SilentNight have a sports field too. ;)

This map may help.................. the ground is situated just off Skipton Road on the Eastern side of Barnoldswick.

(Taken from the stanley website)
this includes return travel to and from the training ground in Barnoldswick (courtesy of Fraser Eagle.)

so directions shouldn't be a problem........:)

I simply said it incase Ashley's Dad didn't know that travel was included.......he could save his own time by dropping his son of at stanley, instead of going to Barnoldswick.;)

Re: Your Traini9ng Ground

I might be missing the point here, but it sounds to me like Ashley is a player coming to the club on trial in a couple of weeks and not one of the kids attending the soccer school.

Yes you are correct, take the turning to gyll church off Skipton road then turn right almost straight away into the car park, Stanley usually train on the bottom pitch but not sure if this will be the case at the moment as they play cricket down on the bottom side during summer.

Thanks very much - no he's not 8, he's 19, so will be driving there himself!

Well, all this talk of joining Chelsea has unsettled him, & after the world cup he wants a new start.

Bit disappointed that your manager said he had to come for a trial, though; you would think he'd have been prepared to take a chance.

.... and back to reality: sorry, no! he's a graduate of Chesterfield's youth scheme who they've said is good enough to be a league player, but he's a centre half and they've already got 5 of them.

Thanks, so does he!

Given your history, I'm sure there'll be a great buzz about the place at the start of the season.

What's your centre half situation? I see he signed a young French lad, but fortunately contacted Ashley again after that, so we know is still interested.

Re: Your Traini9ng Ground

I make it, we have 4 centre halves.

Robbie Williams (been at the club a long time now, although he's still quite young. Firm favourite with the manager, although he has played in midfield occasionally).
Andrew Tretton (hardly played for us as he picked up a serious injury soon after joining us. Looked decent in a couple of games, but not really seen enough of him).
Michael Welch (rock solid all season, although he is yet to sign for next season. Still nothing official about the situation)
And finally this N'Da signing from the French league.
