Music to Run Out To
It seems most don't want music when we score, so what should we run out to?
|
Re: Music to Run Out To
Can somebody sticky this?
|
Re: Music to Run Out To
as long as we dont run out of ideas or money
|
Re: Music to Run Out To
Good Idea Diesel! I am away on holiday from Monday for 2 weeks, but will be back in time for our first home league match. Whatever is the ultimate choice - I will play it at the Darlington Match.

Re: Music to Run Out To
I honestly can't believe that this;
Guess who just got back today? Those wild-eyed boys that had been away Haven't changed, haven't much to say But man, I still think those cats are great They were asking if you were around How you was, where you could be found I told them you were living downtown Driving all the old men crazy The boys are back in town You know the chick that used to dance a lot Every night she'd be on the floor shaking what she'd got Man when I tell you she was cool, she was red hot I mean she was steaming That night over at Johnny's place Well this chick got up and she slapped Johnny's face Man we just fell about the place If that chick don't want to know, forget her Friday night they'll be dressed to kill Down at Dino's bar and grill The drink will flow and blood will spill If the boys want to fight, you'd better let them That jukebox in the corner blasting out my favorite song The nights are getting warmer, it won't be long It won't be long till summer comes Now that the boys are here again The boys are back in town is even competing against this; To dream the impossible dream To fight the unbeatable foe To bear with unbearable sorrow To run whew the brave dare not go To right the unrightable wrong To love pure and chaste from afar To try when your arms are to weary To reach the unreachable star This is my quest, to follow the star No matter how hopeless, no matter how far To fight for the right, without question or pause To be willing to pass into hell for a heavenly cause And I know, if I'll only be true to the glorious quest That my heart lies peaceful and calm When IÕm laid to my rest And the world will be better for this That one man scorned and covered with scars Still strove with his last once of courage To reach the unreachable star This is my quest, to follow the star No matter how hopeless, no matter how far To fight for the right , without question or pause And to dream the impossible dream The impossible dream The impossible dream The impossible Anybody that hasn't yet voted, I urge you to consider exactly what you're voting for. Yes, Thin Lizzy is much more upbeat than Carter USM, but The Impossible Dream epitomises everything this Club and it's fans have been through, both past and present. |

I was just thinking the same diesel ... have people all heard the songs that you can vote for?
|
Re: Music to Run Out To
the only thing we should be running out to every home game is a full house,no need for music, just a full house of vocal asfs supporters
|
Re: Music to Run Out To
Any chance of "March if the Valkyries", preferably played by an overflying helicopter?
|
Re: Music to Run Out To
I'm gonna cringe if Thin Lizzy wins, it'll be like being at Stevenage, so cheesy
|
Re: Music to Run Out To
not looking good is it diesel :)
|
Re: Music to Run Out To
Nope, I thought our fans had more taste :p
|
Re: Music to Run Out To
The Carter song is too slow and quiet and is not the sort of tune to get the fans going but then again neither is "The boys are back in town", vote Tenpole Tudor.
|
Re: Music to Run Out To
It's not 'taste' if everyone goes along with the same suggestion, Diesel :)
Would go for Town Called Malice or possibly Time For Heroes by The Libs over any of the above suggested, but of that selection I would probably say Impossible Dream. |
Re: Music to Run Out To
if Tannoy man gets all fancy with some editing then anyhting will sound good. I agree that Impossible Dream is slow if we played it all the way through. But if we get an edited version can become a terrace favourite. And, it is the story of Accrington Stanley. One day it will be on Broadway. And I mean Broadway New York.

OK diesel. I take it that the poll will run 'til you get the result you want.
|
Re: Music to Run Out To
Seems to be a lot of people voting for carter USM who have never ever posted on accyweb before.. but suddenly feel the urge to join in a poll..
I smell a rat... :( |
Re: Music to Run Out To
Why not just have a medley of all of them?

Re: Music to Run Out To
Somebody tried to rig it, they've been handed a ban and their votes removed. Nothing to do with me though. Ossyclogger, I think it's running 'til Tannoy Man gets back off his hols.
|
Re: Music to Run Out To
Spud'll be voting Carter and Jase but I think they're on hols too!
|
Re: Music to Run Out To
Seen Jase today, he's been busy moving house.
|
Re: Music to Run Out To
its got to be the Kaiser chiefs - i predict a riot for me
|
Re: Music to Run Out To
What's wrong with On Stanley On ? I'm sure that it fulfils all your criteria.
|
Re: Music to Run Out To
I stand by my earlier meat loaf suggestion of out of the frying pan and in the fire!!!
|
Re: Music to Run Out To
Although I've already voted on this topic, why is everyone shouting for the impossible dream, when in fact it is reality and was NEVER an impossible dream. A distant dream maybe in years gone by. I too prefer the Kaiser Chiefs song but it wasn't listed.
|
Re: Music to Run Out To
Ok, well as a muso for the past god knows how long, I have sat at my pc and come up with a ROUGH idea which incorporates most of the songs in this poll into a 3 min medley............I cant attatch an mp3 on here as it is 3.7meg in size, so if anyone would like a copy then pm me your email or msm addy and I will send it to you for consideration.

Carter Carter Carter Carter................... Please............................ Then we can all learn the words & make it our anthem like blowing bubbles is for West Ham, Blue is the Cololur is for Chelsea etc etc |
Re: Music to Run Out To
I`m affaid its Carter USM for me, i love their work and think that Jim Bob and Fruit Bat are brilliant writers of lyrics.
|
Re: Music to Run Out To
Can I vote again if I thought Thin Lizzy where going to win when I voted it would have been Carter for me.

I know that Elvis sang it long before Carter but i dont actualy know who wrote it.
|
Re: Music to Run Out To
It was wrote for a play called Le Mancha origanally, if memory serves me correctly, no idea who wrote it though. Been covered by loads of artists
|
Re: Music to Run Out To
The Impossible Dream was composed by Mitch Leigh with lyrics by Joe Darion for the hit show Man of La Mancha - which was based on Miguel De Cervantes novel Don Quixote. In this song Don Quixote expresses his intention to battle all odds to achieve his goal. It is widely reckoned to be an anthem for Optimists in an age of rampant cynicism.
So it says on my cd of that well known british east Accrington songstress, Lesley Garrett . Yeah yeah - I know the locals insist on calling that area of the parish yorkshire ! |

|
Re: Music to Run Out To
It has to be The Impossible Dream, (Apart from the fact Carter live are awesome) It's the only song above that can be sung with passion.
Methinks people are looking at the BACK bit inThe Thin Lizzy song and voting with that rather than thinking. |

Looks like the poll has finished.. and the winner with 28 votes is..
My question is... Should upwards of three thousand people have to listen to what 28 people on a messageboard decide.. some of whome wont even be at the games? Just a thought :) |
Re: Music to Run Out To
Upwards of 3 thousand? Unfortunately that looks a bit optimistic :(
But I agree with the sentiment :) |

Taking karma from you is the way in which soft sods can vent their spleen on you when you rattle their cages. Usually anonymously.
But if you agree with somebody, you can give them good karma. |
