Ashley Foyle

Could someone let me know how Ashley Foyle is performing at Accrington in his pre-season trial. I watched Ashley on a number of occasions last season and he was key member of Chesterfield's Youth Championship winning team.
He probably would have got a contract with Chesterfield, but for the fact that we had enough central defenders.

Played three halves:

Burnley - struggled against a very pacey and mobile attacker (as did our established centre half, to be fair). Not much chance to show off his aerial ability, which looks good

Alsager - did more headers in first two minutes than in 45 against Burnley. Had an eventful half - miss hit a ball which went for a corner, then ref gave a penalty against him for handball, which all reports reckon came off the attacker. Always showed for the ball, looked confident in the air & on the floor, where lesser spirits might have hid. Good communication with Welchy, the other centre half

Blackburn - one wayward pass, but otherwise did OK against top flight opposition. AS I said in the thread I started, for a triallist to be organising the back line shows real confidence and knowledge of the game.

Having said that, not yet first team material, but I think he has real potential.

I've looked at the Chesterfield site - some feeling that they should have kept him and released one of the other centre halves?
