The Championship - on now - Stanley are on in a bit for those that didnt know but you lot probably saw the cameras yesterday...

Re: Itv1
One of the worst pieces of manufactured media I have ever seen. Everytime I think ITV have sunk as low as they can, they seem to find another depth.
|
Re: Itv1
Actually, there was one funny bit in the report. When Eric said that he puts his hand in his pocket and diappoints his wife again! Maybe it was just my mind, but it made me smile. ;)
|
Re: Itv1
Not exactly great Google Page Ranking is it again slagging off the town for high expectation attendances, maybe Eric should disappoint his wife & improve the ground better so that it will attract more attendances specially during the winter.
The thing is if they constantly slag off the lack of supporters then its not exactly going the right way to improve it, how about promoting more ways of attracting fans rather than slating them because if they carry on doing that every home match its going to have a negative effect & will lose the interest so whats the gain in that! |

Re: Itv1
people just won't pay 13 quid to stand in the open FACT.
I fear that attendances will get a hell of a lot worse when the weather sets in. |

<O:p Actually it’s not as daft as it sounds, if we are expected to continue to get behind the club and “there’s no f in roof” forthcoming maybe some respite from the wet and cold that allows us to still show our shirts and colours would be helpful. <O:p |
Re: Itv1
I didn't see the report on ITV1. Anyone know of any on site footage?
|
Re: Itv1
Eric needs to lighten up and stop slagging the fans off,
All the fans who attend the games will be watching the TV as keen fans do !! The stay aways dont give a toss so lets just accept the gates will be what they are .. average/poor. Just down the road Bury and Rochdale get very poor gates but their respective chairman dont go on national TV and slag their fans off, they accept it for what it is, and they have Man Utd and City on their doorsteps, also Bury have FC United who average 1500 MORE than Bury for home games at the SAME venue. Give Bury FC a call and see how they manage their affairs under this present board, they just get on with it. Both clubs have no money and no points !! have they slagged off their fans NO They have respect for them and also wish to hang onto them in difficult times. I want to place on record a big thanks to all the staff in the background who do a sterling job at ASFC. Lets get behind Stanley TOGETHER as one :engsmil: Give us a green to the premier league :D |
Re: Itv1
i watched it also and i feel that as a new supporter (started half way through last season) that to pay £13 to stand in the cold and rain as i did v darlington is not very good, when for about the same price i can sit at burnley and also get a drink at half time and a programme,i was talking to some of the clayton enders on tuesday and they told me that they have been waiting 3 years for a roof on,dispite raising money for it by walks and climbs etc,so what has happened to the donation by ilias khan for the naming rights, i am not a builder but surley it does,nt take 3/4 years to erect a roof, i am not slagging anyone off but as a middle aged lady i feel that i just cannot stand in the rain and cold which we will get from oct/jan, i believe that mr whalley has put a lot of money into the club, but perhaps if there were improvements to both ends ie roooofs on more people might come to watch, i hope i have,nt offended any one but if i wanted to get wet and cold on tuesday i should,nt have to pay £13 for the privilage.

Re: Itv1
You do know there are covered areas at stanley doncha? You are allowed in the cowshed for the same price :)
|
Re: Itv1
no i did,nt thank you for that information, is the cowshed that accross from the big stand
|
Re: Itv1
Either the people of Accy have short memories or are very thin skinned, the reason we went out of the league was........10pts for the right answer
1. Complete and utter lack of support from the people of Accy 2. Another team in the same town 3. Lots of things to do on a Sat in Accy 4. It rained a lot Now we get whinning about the manager and chairman telling the truth on telly, it not fair he's calling us names. He is being honest and no matter how much it hurts its the truth, if you don't get behind the team then when we are in the Northern Prem again it will be everybodys fault except the people of Accrington. |

Re: Itv1

None of the above makes any sense.. The people on here are the ones that go to the game.. so it isn't "us" he is calling names... then you go on to that "you" have to get behind the team etc.... well excuse me but again your saying this to people who do.. Where have you seen NON stanley fans"whinning" about what he said? Why are you telling stanley fans who go to the games that he is talking about them and then saying they must get behind the team. Its exactly what your saying that the real stanley fans dont like being told... go tell the ones that dont come to stanley all the above.. dont come whinning to us with it bazf.. Remember we are all people of accy.. so when people slag off the people of accy there slagging us all off... tell it to the poeple who dont.. not the people who do.. or at the very least refer to them and not to all of us. thats you and eric and coley... |
Re: Itv1
Perhaps we're all missing the point?
Perhaps the town of Accrington can't support a full-time, Football League club? It was tried before and failed due to lack of interest. It's being tried again now, but so far it hasn't generated a lot of interest inside the town. The media and the rest of the country seem interested, but the people of Accrington don't. Perhaps the simple fact is that as a town, Accrington doesn't want, or value a football team? |
Re: Itv1
I know it's been said before, but we're in a highly disadvantageous position in division 2. We have a population of 38,000 and two much bigger clubs nearby. There are other towns with similar populations (Boston) but well away from bigger clubs and other towns near big clubs (Stockport) but with a bigger population to draw on (130,000+). Perhaps we'll just have to learn to live with small gates.
|
Re: Itv1
Now your doing it TM .. I am a member of this town and I want a team... Can you and eric and coley and everyone else stop telling me i dont want a team.

Re: Itv1
Posting things like this on a messageboard is preaching to the converted. We need to start spreading the word in the outside world. If everybody at the Barnet match had brought just 1 friend/relative along, the gate would've been over 3000. :)
|
Re: Itv1
Exactly Alvin ... you tell em ....stop having a go at the people who do go to games :)
|
Re: Itv1
I would also agree we Alvin. I think there may be some element of truth in the fact that the towns population is relatively small, however we should also consider that is figure of 38,000 is further compounded by the ethnic mix of today’s borough.
We face a fight for the hearts and minds of the local populace, but this isn’t a fight that can be won here of this site. I see this as just another skirmish. We need to educate and in some cases re educate people; we need to be getting into the schools, social clubs and pubs, we need to be represented at multi cultural events and other traditional events around Lancashire and create a focal point centred on the club. In reality we perhaps need to become more than just a football club. We have had some tremendous media attention over the last few weeks, months even and we have failed to capitalise on it. Its time for a new collective approach by all those that want this club to live on and succeed in today’s world. |
Re: Itv1
True point Doug making the club attractive & welcoming to all for those that haven't visited us yet it can be done to convert someone hehehehehe, ive converted at least 3 people maybe more, my son was a man u supporter so he's now dropped that for a few divisions down now loves stanley, as does my daughter, also a friend has told me they braved going for their 1st match & loved it to the point when are we next at home was response, plus maybe doing free entrances to U12's or even U16's get them off streets into footy - who knows we may encourage future home grown ASFC star players or interest for the club to carry the club on from strength to strengh when we're in our old age:D

Re: Itv1
We have tried the "bring a Friend" before and the problem is alot of people already come stanley with mates who already would be going to the game already...i also think we should try and to incentives E.g woking "kid for a quid" or something along those lines because maybe £4 is alot of money to like an 11 year old??? and if we get the kid in their more than likely gonna bring mum or dad which is another £13/£15 and if 1 kid goes the other will want to go etc ... i think the way forward is going into schools as much as possible and getting kids while their young and hopefully carry on supporting stanley in 10/20 years time!!!
I Belive alot of people are annoyed because the roof was promised years ago and hasnt come yet for whatever reason. so bring a mate to the next game and get down to accy market and get a rain jacket and an extra pair of socks till it arrives :D:D:D |
Re: Itv1
We could have a “Quid for a Brick” campaign. You know sponsor a nut and bolt for ten bob, a brick for a quid (Have your name on it for a tenner) Roof panel for £50 quid etc….
|
Re: Itv1
Im with Bazf - I think Eric is right to go on national telly and moan about the low attendances. If its not highlighted then how is it going to improve by ignoring the problem?? It needed saying - an attendance of below 2000 on a Saturday for a League 2 game is indeed appalling...

How was that doing the Google Page Ranking any favours if you was a neutral never been to a stanley match what is their 1st impressions of Stanley after watching that - thanks to Coleys & whalleys comments??? Luckily the fans there make it welcoming & great to be at, not the said management as it seems. Plus they need to get real a little bit - just cos we made it to the football league does not give automatic prowess to encapulate full house - that is a slow injection that in time will happen, specially whilst we have been out of the league for a long time - that has in turn took its toll on the clubs support & a generation or 2 of football fans then turned their support to the neighbouring growing teams, its going to take time to re-adjust that - plus we need to focus on future generations to carry the club forth - its not going to happen overnight even over a month or so realistically, unless positive encouragement to convince these non supporters or convert.... so lets get realistic & work from there but coley & whalley need a Google Page Ranking lesson - quick before apathy sets in. |
Re: Itv1
at the end of the day it going to take years and years to develop a larger commited crowd, and "unfortunatly" we have progressed that quick that this development of a hardcore fanbase hasent happened completely..it will take years to create a hardcore fanbase of 2000+ and although the club can help to intice the fans by doing certain inititives, we are never going to have a large hardcore fanbase in the next 10 years imo its going to take time

here here accymel:engsmil: :engsmil: i completely agree with u on this |
Re: Itv1
As the progression occurs on the field, we just need to take a deep breath & remember how far we have come, manage a budget on our turnover & trust Coley & Jimmy to do the best that they can with the money.
As fans we just need to keep supporting despite a low crowd on Saturday we all need to make sure that we make the day as fun as possible. Say hello to people next to you, cheer, clap, lose your inhibitions, try not to grumble, be proud, be passionate & slowly, as a club, we will develop that 2000 hardcore of fans that will help us move to the next level. Saturday lots of low crowds ie Macc, Barrow, York, Shots. We will never be the biggest but as a group we can be the best. LEts get the FES rocking, win lose or draw & whether there's 1600 or 600. The terrace (& I've never sat down since I was 13) has always been bouyant & a fun place to stand with your mates. We should be loud & proud - people will notice & people will return. Get a Cup Run or glamour tie (Forest) & there will again be people that come for the first time. Lets keep them. PS If you look at Kipax pics, there is a huge load of kids who used to stand in front of the singers. They are the ones from the terrace who seem to be missing. "Kid for a quid?". Just a thought LOUD, PROUD & ACCY (& sometimes Aberdeen like this Saturday at St Mirren Wahoo!) |
Re: Itv1
i think all thes kids have gone to rovers cause theyve got a specail deal on for season ticket holders .i think we will have to succumbe to market forces and reduce prices ..i think weve missed the boat on these........
|
Re: Itv1
Kid for a quid ??? :D:D
If that was case i may be able to go a bit more often :D:D:D than it is now i sadly cant afford to go all home matches:( but im there as best i can at the mo but not as much as i'd like to. |

Re: Itv1
Just as a sidenote - The Championship show on at 11am BST on ITV1 every Sunday morning mentioned that they will be showing all league 1 and 2 goals every week so for those that cant get there they can still see every goal Stanley score this season!!! S**T HOT!!!! :D (Well every Saturday game anyway)
Jimbo T :horn8:blower |
Re: Itv1
