Stockport Ballboys

Each ballboy had a blue and white flag on a pole.. when stockport scored they all stood up and waved the flags..... good or bad idea ?

Think it would be a good idea.
Seeing as we have the ball boys & girls dotted all around the ground it would be good to see some more colour & life aside from the Clayton End.

Wouldn't be a good idea at FES, they spend most of their time on Whalley Rd, we wouldn't see em :Banane25:

Thought most of what County had to offer, as a club, was phoney and enforced, no real atmosphere, they just crank the PA up.

Didn't notice the ball boys' flags.

Sorry, Kipax, why do you ask? Is this a wind up?

Not a bad idea in view of showing the clubs colours. The only thing that ****ed me off is the little buggers without flags that were running up and down behind the goal like at Stockport last night. If its just two kids with flags midway between the goal and the corner flag sitting and celebrating with a wave of the flag ok..

I found that INCREDIBLY insulting. Our PA was on before KO during Half Time and after FT. We don't have it on during the game.

The noise you heard from the Cheadle End and the Popside was all made by County fans.

Insulting :(

No it was a honest question... At first I thought good idea.. then on reflection I thought whats the point... then I thought whats the harm and its all good.. then I thought its false..

I was torn :)

OK, but I'd go for the last one, false and pretty naff.

As for the Stranded Hatter, who feels insulted, my original problem was with the Club's presentation, as distinct from the fans.

As he, himself, was embarassed by the half time goings on, he can probably understand where I'm coming from. Stockport is not going down as one of my better football experiences, the volume of the PA is well over the top, and there was no escape from the crap DJ.

I just go to watch football, support Stanley and enjoy the fans' responses, my impression of Stockport fans has been totally overshadowed by the club's poor presentation.

I have to say I've never heard the PA that loud before. It was insane

It was so loud that some of the music was crackling and sounded very poor...

I've e-mailed the club to complain, [email protected]

First time I've had to do this in 40 odd years of going to matches.:(

Hello all, let me first say how welcome you guys are to the football league, I don't want to sound like a kiss ass but I have followed AS for a couple seasons because of the Stanley Ultras and all the chaps who have worked hard to improve the atmosphere at your interlink stadium(?)

Kipax, we met before the game I was putting out our banners with my friend, it would great to meet you, your insight into all levels of the football pyramid has inspired me for the last few seasons.

Firstly the flags with the ballboys was an experiment and is something which we have been very lucky to be allowed inside the stadium, if you know anything about York City and the Jorvik Reds you will know the trouble they have had trying to get any sort of flag with a stick into the ground so we have been lucky and it does add to the colour which is something we want to promote. At the next game we have been allowed an additional 10 more flags into the ground, hopefully this will allow us to use flag sticks in the stands soon.

I have some responsibility in the atmosphere at EP on the matchday as well as the 5000 other fans who contribute towards the noise, and on friday night the atmosphere was thanks to a little tradition and a lot of passion, apologies if our passion seems phoney but like yourself most our fans would gladly give an arm for the club any day of the week.

I do feel for Stanley after hearing that the club had banned your drum, something which always helps to keep a good song going, but don't worry, when we come to your ground we will knock your socks off, you will not see better supporters at your ground and best of all we are well behaved too.

Btw the person you refer to as a crap DJ was on his first night and spoke very clearly, since there is no volume button on the microphone I don't think it is fair to blame him. But it is a concern that needs to be addressed and as a representative of the fans I will address this to the club. If you wish to send an official complaint you can send on to me using [email protected]

Anyway good luck with the rest of the season, I think we will both need it to be honest.

DJ

Have got to sya from my visit on Friday, apart from the chuck bar being extortionate overall the club & fans were great. Both sides made a lot of noise to inspire their respective sides & the honesty of several of your fans after who approached myself & my son wishing the Stanley well & honestly saying we should have won on the night matches your comments re your fans. Know you are having a bad start so far & obviously the dissapointment is showing but it is still early days. Sadly our drum was banned by peer pressure from local residents rather than the club, part of the penalty of success in a residential area! Trust you will enjoy your visit up to the FES & all the best to a fellow northern club.

Re: Stockport Ballboys

Our head steward is a big fan of the club so bends over backwards sometimes but the other stewards can sometimes be jobsworths and we weren't allowed to put it up anywhere, despite me pleading to put it up in the 2 empty sections nearest to Accy fans I was told no. I couldn't even put that larger one which was on the pitch before the game in the empty seats. Still we took it to Mansfield and it looked quite good, and hopefully they will allow us to take it to Swindon at the weekend too.

The long one at the back of the stand, well funny story about that. Originally I had an idea for the longest scarf and in actual fact it was supposed to go across the back of that stand. Instead the club, who in fairness were paying for it asked the manufacturer www.barmyflags.co.uk to make it 100 metres long which of course is ridiculously too long. So I had it cut in half so we had two long banners instead. One reads STOCKPORT COUNTY, and the other reads THE SCARF MY FATHER WORE, which is our most popular song.

I might come down tonight if I can get away from work. In fact ****** it I will come down, does you steward allow tifo flagpoles into the ground? Cause if your man has a spare flag I can use I would be glad to come and support your lot.
