It's deadline day today (Thur 31) and if nothing then we can't sign until January... so fingers crossed..

KIPAX 30-08-2006 23:01

Re: New signings today

Re: New signings today

Whats the chances of Polly Perkins from Morecambe or McLean the Grays striker? Or better still both...

JEFF 31-08-2006 08:19

Re: New signings today

We can still sign players on loan after today can't we ?

DanTheMonkey 31-08-2006 08:30

Re: New signings today

McLean ?

Last time i checked, everyone said we was signing Donaldson from York ...

Time will tell, but i do hope he brings in a quality striker, we need the goals at the moment, and Perkins was always going to be a good signing, no matter what ...

I dont know about you KIPAX, but i bloody hate how time seems to drag on ... can you remember last transfer window though, Coley found a diamond in the rough

But at the expense of Ant Barry, lets just hope clubs dont swoop on anybody late on this time

KIPAX 31-08-2006 16:15

Re: New signings today

Haha I didnt want to mention that.. Its not just loking who we might buy but who we might lose :(

Right now it looks like nothing going to happen either way ..

DanTheMonkey 31-08-2006 16:20

Re: New signings today

I cant see Coley just sitting back, and praying to stay injury free, if he has announced his intrest, you can be sure he is following it up as we speak

Still, early day's yet !!!

John_Timmins 31-08-2006 16:22

Re: New signings today

so... i wonder why stanley have signed Francois Dubourdeau (goalie) hope its just so that there is a back up for dunbavin until elliot gets fit.. cos we dont have martin fearon any more.Hope rob plays again hes a top goalie. What happened to the striker? hehe

John_Timmins 31-08-2006 20:20

Re: New signings today

Re: New signings today

You don't sign a keeper who's played 40 odd Scottish Premier games for him to be a third choice. I'm afraid things are looking a bit sick for Rob Elliot.

A signing being announced on the official site at 9.00pm on deadline day must also mean there won't be the hoped for striker & midfielder (hope I'm wrong), but at least it should mean Craney, Roberts etc. are staying (hope I'm right).

ok then but he went on loan for two games this got extended to 4 so therefore he didnt sign before start of the new season so think it may be wrong but will have to speak to the man himself :)

stanleyfan 31-08-2006 20:54

Re: New signings today

hope it is just a loan cos he is a gd keeper and will improve alot. although we do now have some top keepers :)

zayno14 31-08-2006 20:54

Re: New signings today

Just spoke to him about five minutes ago..He is on loan.....JT the Clitheroe season only started two weeks back :) Thats probably why it says he joined day before the start of the season..

Re: New signings today

Leeds have signed a keeper from Charlton (anderson?), with Randolph on loan at Gillingham maybe they are thin on the ground. It looks like Coley has stepped in to make sure that we have cover.

off asfc site

Stanley sign French goalkeeper
French goalkeeper Francois Dubourdeau has signed for Accrington Stanley until Christmas. The 25 year old shot stopper has played over 40 matches in the Scottish Premier League with Motherwell and Kilmarnock and has also had spells at Dundee and Forfar Athletic.

"Forfar Athletic manager Ray Farningham hit out at bungling goalkeeper Francois Dubourdeau after their 1-0 defeat by Raith Rovers.
The keeper miskicked a ball into his own net recently against Dumbarton and he again was involved in a critical mistake when he spilled a Steve Adam corner into the net for the only goal of the game."

French? Goalkeeper? Bungling? Have we been here before?;)

Shame that;Mclean would have been a top signing,he certainly makes for an interesting game but not too surprised that Grays weren't for letting him go.

Read in the League paper Sunday. Brighton enquired after Mc Clean, 7.00pm deadline day, and were put off by the asking price.
Looks like Coley had no chance of signing him, if so why did he not turn his attention elswhere? if we cannot sign a conference player, we have very little chance of signing a football league player, unless no one else wants them. Money and wages may be the problem.
