Sour Grapes
The League paper is reporting that Denis Wise complained about both the stadium and the pitch yesterday. Given that Wrexham also made complains particularily about the floodlights it seems that there are those in League two who just expected to come to Accrington score a couple of goals and collect three easy points. :tongueout Is what I say

Re: Sour Grapes
If the pitch lighting etc were not up to the league standard why are we there when they could have refused us promotion? Dennis Wise is still thinking he is in the premiership and that all clubs have loads of dosh to spend. We are in a lower league and money is tight and personally under these circumstances we are holding our own. As for Wisey send him up hear and I will show him a few bad grounds that pro footy is played at.

Re: Sour Grapes
It probably is sour grapes from Wise, as he must have expected to get 3 points yesterday.
However, let's be realistic. Our ground must be the worst in League 2 and the floodlights are pretty disgraceful to say the least. Maybe if all of them were working they'd be a bit better? I thought I'd heard that we got some kind of grant when we got promoted, for ground improvement purposes. Is that true? |
Re: Sour Grapes
I there is then we must apply for it and any others available to our "little Big Football Club" and as soon as possible. It will be good for the town as well so what help can HBC give?

Re: Sour Grapes
talking to a couple of our players last night, they said that they sit in darkness in the dressing room so that when they come out it looks really bright!

I was at Barnet earlier this season to see Barnet v Walsall, and in my opinion, it is far worse than the Fraser Eagle Stadium. The ground at Underhill looks as if Barnet have not spent anything at all on it in decades, let alone years ! :( :( :( |
Re: Sour Grapes
Totally agree...Barnet is far worse than our ground. As for Edgar Street, it may be bigger than the FES, but it's a dank, depressing slum which should be condemned as a public health hazard.

Re: Sour Grapes
Edgar street also has pillars!

Re: Sour Grapes
I think Dennis Wise must be related to the plonker who was commentating for Swindon yesterday. He did nothing throughout the first half but slag us off, kept going on about how Swindon couldn't be expected to play free flowing football on such a pitch along with numerous other nasty comments about our club, the pitch - in fact anything related to Stanley. I know they're gonna be biased to their own club but that bloke was a disgrace.

Perhaps he has forgotten that the pitch is the same for both sides, and a decent side should be able to perform, regardless of the state of the pitch. :D :D :D |
Re: Sour Grapes
The more the opposition moan about our pitch and stadium the more i want it to remain exactly the same. Why should we make coming here a pleasurable experience for them. The Fraser Eagle Stadium is becoming a fortress. People are taking notice and more and more away teams aren't looking forward to coming here, lets keep it that way.

Re: Sour Grapes
Personally (and I do stand to be corrected), I think that the Swindon bubble may have burst already - they are certainly going through a rocky patch with only seven points from a possible 21 in their last seven matches.:D :D :D
Many of the pundits were predicting that they would run away with the division (and maybe Swindon started believing it themselves after their flying start !), but I think Walsall are a better side and would be my favourites to win it (assuming that Stanley don't !! lol ). |

Teams aren't supposed to enjoy their trek here, and I've heard even the nicest dressing rooms are mad to be uncomfartable in one way or another all the way to the Prem. Apparently Middlesboro have funny colored wallpaper that makes the opposition players feel sick, and another Club put the fridge deliberately in front of the Tactics board. |
Re: Sour Grapes
Should get that mascot(Winstanley?) to have a crap in visitors changing rooms on the day of the match.:D

Re: Sour Grapes
Today's Times has an interesting quote from Wise in it's report:

Re: Sour Grapes
Dennis has a short memory, has he forgotten his roots plenty of them on plough lane cabbage patch .i know they were called the crazy gang and he is probably trying to deflect people away from the fact that they are paying a fortune out in wages and are certainly not good enough or adaptable enough to get out of league two.Its time to Wise up Dennis
