Accrington Stanley Ladies WIN!!!!
I know it was a big night for the OSC tonight but it was also a historical night for Accrington Stanley Ladies FC.
Tonight Accrington Stanley Ladies beat the University of Central Lancashire by 9 goals to 8 in a pulsating match at Preston Sport's Arena. As well as the Ladies playing in the LFA League Division Two they are also in the FA Winter League which runs from October to March 07. It was a great game with most first teamer's making an appearance. The goals came from Amy Sowerbutts (7) and Sparkie (2), one a Gary Robert's special eh Sparks!!! lol :D The game did not go all Stanley's way with them going down 4-2 at the break but with a positive teamtalk at half-time, Stanley came back the stronger with them consistently taking hold of the lead on five further occasions to win the game. It was end to end stuff throughout and something I think the girls who took part enjoyed! Anyway, it was a great showing by all the girls and hopefully it can create some momentum to take them further forward. Just to put things into perspective, the University team has been together for over 3 years, the Stanley Ladies team just 12 weeks! The next couple of games are HUGE games for the girls against the top two, Rochdale LFC Away on Sunday and Rossendale Borough at home a week on Sunday, all are welcome, it's free admission, and now we have moved to King George V Playing Fields the crowds are picking up which is great to see for all involved! Thanks to everyone who's supported us so far and hopefully we can get some good future results like this one!!!! Karen |

Re: Stanley Ladies WIN!!!!
I play outfield in 5 a-side, and it wasn't a free kick. It was from open play facing my own goal, the ball bounced up, I took it on my thigh on the turn and volleyed it into the top corner, I nearly didn't celebrate through shock!!!!! My other one was a left footed drive that took a deflection, but I will remember the first one for a long time!!!
When the final whistle went I nearly burst into tears!!! then just sat down on the side of the pitch and went quiet, just trying to take it all in!!! What a fantastic night, I'm still buzzing this morning!!! In the words of soccer am ....... Love it, love it, love it, love it, love it!!!! |

Re: Stanley Ladies WIN!!!!
So.where is the result from this weekends game (vs Rochdale)? How did you go?
|
Re: Stanley Ladies WIN!!!!
We didn'y play John, a combined thing of both sides have picked up injuries and illnesses and the fact Stanley men's team were away at orquay and was relatively a local derby for Rochdale mens meant the game has been postponed.
We do play Rossendale Borough on Sunday at King George V Playing Fields at 2pm, admission is free. Karen |
