Stanley - Racing Ahead

Sadly unable to go to Torquay, I treated myself to a horse racing publication, preview to the jumping season.

Then on page 18, great picture of Coley combing his hair and whole page on Stanley.

Just can't get away from it!

Nice nod to the spirit of Dixie Dean, which the journalist think Stanley encompass, and I would wholeheartedly endorse.

Some jokes on Coley's karaoke prowess, Lionel Ritchie - All Night Long ???

When I say, "combing his hair", it could actually be pink blotting paper, a carryover from his teaching days?

"Staying up with Coley and Jim". Can anyone elaborate please?

Whilst I have not read the article, so I may be wrong.

"Staying up with Coley & Jim" was a song sung very loudly on the team coach from about January onwards when we hit the 50 point total ( well known fact the very rarely do teams get relegated on 50 points)

So on many trips home last year, Coley lead loud renditions of "Staying up", rather than tempting fate by sing "going up".:)

The best son was

we won it on Sky
we won it on Skiiiiiiiiiiyyyyy
At Exeter -
we won it on Sky

At the time the song was soley about winning that game, but as the games went by and rivals faded away the song became about the pivotal moment in the title race. All together now

we won it on Sky.......................

Maaca,

That was another song sung very loudly by Coley and his choir on the many long return journies last year.

There were also renditions of the Craney song as well as "Gary Roberts only scores on sky", which was belted out all the way out of Exeter and up the M5.

Happy days!!
